I was recently in Dewey Beach and saw that Kiefer Sutherland was playing and thought it would be fun to go see his band. Before going I read some reviews of the venue and got concerned that it might not be my cup of tea. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It was fun, casual the bartender and the bouncers were very nice. We had a great time.

My husband and I went to the Bottle & Cork for the 1st time in August of 2007. I had heard that Bucky Covington was going to be performing there. I stopped at the Bottle & Cork on 7-29-07 and purchased two tickets to see the live performace at the Bottle & Cork "A Rock and Roll Bar". It only cost me $30.00 for the two tickets. We arrived at the show about 1 hour before the scheduled performance in order to park and get in line to be admitted. We found out that it cost us $10.00 to park in their lot when we arrived. We were not told previously that we would have pay to park. So, we reluctantly paid the parking fee. Once we got in line, we were admitted pretty quickly. Our tickets were taken from us at time of admission. We were not give any kind of ticket stub (for my scrap book). But, I believe our hands were stamped at that time.
Once we were inside, I made my way up to the front of the "room" in front of the stage. There are no viewing seats in this venue. You have to stand in place, so 1st come gets the closest spot. I stood in my spot for the remainder of the evening. They do have a bar at the back of the room...where you can purchase alcoholic beverages. And they had a table set up near the stage for souvenir purchases.
I was impressed with the accurate scheduling of the venue. Right on time, the opening act began to play!! lower case blues was the opening band. They played their guitars and "sang" for about an hour and then it was time for the headlline act. Bucky's performance was good that evening and the small venue made it extremely enjoyable. Being right up front, I got to lean on the stage that they were performing on. I got great UP CLOSE photos of Bucky, Rocky & the band. Also, I got to shake hands with Bucky while he was on stage. And I got a drumstick and towel from Rocky & the band. This probably would NOT have been possible IF I had gone to a large venue. Plus the sound was amazing for such a small place.
After the concert, we stayed to meet & talk with the band. We were able to talk to them as they broke down their equipment. However, Bucky did disappear to his tour bus that was parked out back. Eventually we did get to meet with him too and get autographs. This was definately one advantage of the small venue.
Overall, I had a great experience at the Bottle & Cork. It is kind of a "redneck" bar, but it is totally Rock & Roll. Even with a country band playing---it had a rock & roll vibe. I do not think they chose the right opening act for a country band, but other than that--we had a wonderful time. The small venue really made it an enjoyable experience. I have been to other concerts in larger fancier arenas & have not has as much fun. I really like the down home atmosphere--laid back and lots of fun!
The venue always has different kinds of bands--some are regulars, some are older bands and some are bands on their way up. So, you can catch some of your old favorites here in addition to some local bands!! Over the past 5-6 years--they have had performers like James, Otto, Gavin Degraw, Soul Asylum, Pat McGee, Live, Pat Green, Bucky Covington, Miranda Lambert, Dwight Yoakam, Vanilla Ice, Blondie, Better than Ezra, Cyndi Lauper, Foreigner and Ziggy Marley. So, you never know who will show up at the Bottle & Cork!! I like to keep checking back to see WHO will be there. You can't beat the price OR the atmosphere.

We loved this open-air venue! The sound and staff were great and the decor was super fun! Would definitely make the trip back for another show!

I initially thought it was just another bar that served wine:) However, I will say the bands were great and energy kept my old ass going they entire time. Plenty of room to spread out and the drinks were flowing. Lot's of artists we know and love played out there at one point in their career. Check out the wall of fame in the back to find a name your recognize.

My night started out great at the Chris Lane concert. My family and I were having a great time singing along and dancing with the music. I am very short (5ft tall) and thought it would be fun to get on my cousins shoulders. I got on her shoulders and out of no where was violently ripped down by a bouncer.
The bouncer did not ask me to get down first, he grabbed me by the arm and forcefully pulled me down to the point where it left bruises on my arm. I am 5ft tall and weigh just over 100 pounds. The bouncer was very big and it was very unnecessary for him to do such a thing.
I filled out an incident report with Kathleen who was a manager and she explained to me why I wasn’t allowed on someone’s shoulders (due to the concrete floors) and I completely understand that after it was explained to me, but that does not excuse the bouncer’s violent actions. I would have gladly gotten down if he had asked me to.
A man in a grey shirt with a pony tail, who I assume was either the owner or the manager, was very rude and tried to turn the incident around on me telling me “You understand why the bouncer did that right?” And “did it ever occur to you you were the only one on someone’s shoulders?” And I kindly explained to him that his bouncer should have asked me to get down rather than ripping me down to the point of leaving bruises. He brushed it off, did not apologize for the bouncer’s actions and Kathleen asked me not to write a bad review when I told her I was going to post pictures of the bruises. The incident was handled very unprofessionally. They did not even attempt to find the bouncer who did it writing “unknown doorman” on the incident report.

I recommend coming to this bar for jam session. The bands are always amazing! The bar is a decent size with room to dance and talk to people while listening to the cover bands. This bar is cash only though so make sure you come prepared. They do have atms inside if needed.

Eclectic, indoor-outdoor dewy gem. I look forward to any evening out socializing, dancing, and enjoying the great bands and solo performances put on at the Bottle and Cork. A few of my favorites... the indoor/outdoor openness, the big tree right off to the left of the stage, the intimate gathering of others enjoy the great music, the ease of purchasing tickets, the sort lines waiting to use the ladies room, the decor..... I’ve been traveling from OC to the Bottle and Cork for at least ten years, and I’ll continue returning each season for great entertainment and enjoying time with friends. Thank you for giving us a place to visit locally to unwind, enjoy libations, and for the many talented acts you book!

We went here because we wanted to see Kiefer Sutherland and his band play and we enjoyed it. The place was just the right size for a decent crowd -- young, middle, old, couples, singles, groups of friends. The drink selections are good and the sound didn't blow our heads off. We stood close to the stage and everyone had a great time--just right for a rock and roll bar. No wonder they attract good musicians to play there!

The title pretty much sums up a Saturday evening at "the Jam". It is so crowded that you can't move with the result that people constantly smash into you; the majority of which are drunk. The bathrooms stink and are over crowded. They used to have a beer laden foosball table that allowed diversion from the crowds but they don't even offer that any longer. You basically stand around and get bumped, to me it was a waste of $5 and very boring. Unless you are really into paying a cover to get body slammed by drunks and overpay for drinks....I recommend a different venue!
