Amazing place for a relaxing walk with the dogs. Clean, well signposted and free parking. Plenty of different routes to choose from so great for all ages.

Good for dogging - bring your dog, they will love it

Good walking routes and well kept and managed forest tracks. Ideal paths for walking, dogging and also bike riding. Car park seemed big but it was quiet when we visited. Disappointing was a total lack of bins both at the car park and along the paths

Great place to walk and enjoy the day.

Chopwell Woods is a lovely place to walk. Fabulous old trees, well kept areas and safe parking.

On our last visit we saw red kites which was an experience!

The only downside...and NOT the fault of the woods or its 'carers' is the bags of dog poo left by ignorant halfwits who show no respect for other people. The idea is you take your dog's mess home with you.

I visited for the first time just before Lockdown 2.0! The autumn colours were beautiful with people enjoying walking, cycling and even horse-riding. Parking was free and there were plenty of paths to choose from, clearly signposted. It's also a great place for wildlife, very relaxing!

I go to Chopwell Woods maybe about once a month, and I always choose a new route as there are so many to choose from. There are plenty parking spaces, benches and it's a huge woods to go to! I'd recommend it to any family or person who wants a peaceful walk

Deers and Red Kites 🦌
May 2020 • Couples
We travelled here from half an hour away and were rewarded with a wonderful, vast woodland space.

We saw deer, red kites, and many more. Will definitely be back in the autumn for some mushroom hunting 🍄

We visited on a busy Saturday but the car park is big and the walking trails didn’t feel crowded - we managed to get many moments of tranquility.

New 3k and 5 k running routes
Mar 2020
Short of time we went for a walk in Chopwell woods looking for wild flowers. None to be seen, but a lot of trees had been taken out. Its easy to get lost but the 5k route is well marked and we found it very atctive and just right for a 1 hour walk.

Fabulous viewing of the resident Red Kites

Beautiful walks - many different trails to follow - and was amazed by the sight of approximately 20 Red Kites circling overhead.

Great place to walk

Love these woods, some really good trails through the woods although at the moment they have some areas restricted due to logging. Even when the car park looks full there is plenty of space so there is still plenty of opportunity for a quiet walk.
