About
It’s not in the dictionary, but if it was, Go Ape would be described as a ‘tree top adventure’.That means we build giant obstacle courses up in the trees using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super-strong wire, and top it all off with the world's best zip lines. We then equip people with harnesses, pulleys and carabiners, give them a 30 minute safety briefing and training and let them loose into the forest canopy, free to swing through the trees. Of course, instructors are always on hand, regularly patrolling the forests (not in monkey suits unfortunately!)The result is spectacular. The Go Ape experience gets the adrenalin pumping, gets people out of their comfort zones and above all (no pun intended), it’s just great fun.

We love Go Ape adventures and this one truly lived up to our expectations. The cable and trolley system was SO quick and efficient and easy to use compared to prior Go Ape adventures where the trolley didn't stay attached. This made us feel safe the entire time because it was impossible to not "always be attached". The obstacles were fun and the zip lines were awesome. I loved flying across Lums Pond so many times. The entire staff was really great too. My husband and I were the first group to go through it and we FLEW through the course. We were done in under 2 hours, which included the prep and instructions as the beginning. But when we went last summer with our kids and we weren't the first group, it took us over 3 hours. Time definitely varies.

Tons of fun! Took my teenage kids and a friend each. We enjoyed the challenge and thrill of it all. The Tarzan drop was mentally challenging by enthralling! Zipping over the water made me feel free!

Hello,
Thanks so much for leaving a rating of your experience at Go Ape -Bear. We hope you enjoyed an epic outdoor adventure! The course definitely has some challenging parts, but there's nothing like getting through a tough obstacle and the reward of ziplining back down to the forest floor. We hope to see you again soon!

We had such an amazing time. We reserved our spot online which was very simple, check in was seamless and the young man working the counter was very helpful and pleasant. On the course, we couldn’t have asked for better instructors. They did a great job keeping directions concise, and gave reminders when needed in a comfortable way. Carlie, Brooke, Olivia, Vicki and the other instructor (I forgot her name unfortunately but she was wonderful!) all were so helpful and friendly, and very patient with our group. My youngest got nervous and they were even more forgiving and patient with him than I was at some points. This was a great experience, we will surely be back!

We usually LOVE the Go Ape course, as we have done the course several times, but this past time was horrible. I went with my two kids and two friends from out of state who wanted to try it out. They drove 2 hours to do this activity with us. The course started off okay, but then a little boy got panicked while he was up in the trees, and it caused a HUGE delay for ourselves and everyone behind us. First, there were no Go Ape staff members around to even notice that there was a problem, but when I told them that there was a boy who was panicked on the course, it took at least a half hour to get him back down. Then, a group that was behind us (party of 6) decided to cut the line and go ahead to the next zone, causing us another delay. Again, there were no Go Ape staff members monitoring this at all. We wasted so much time waiting on platforms that my son vowed that he would never go back and do this again. It's a shame because Go Ape is really quite fun, but we had an awful experience. Sorry to be so negative, but just know if you go on the weekend, you might spend more time waiting around than actually doing the course and having fun.

This was my teenage daughter's idea but I'm really glad she thought of it. This middle-aged body struggled at times but it was exhilarating and a beautiful backdrop. The staff did a great job providing instruction and support if needed. Highly recommend!

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids 14 & 11) had an awesome time yesterday morning. There were a lot of things to remember when learning how to do the course, and our guide Maya did a great job preparing us, including a small practice area. At the time it seemed like overkill but it truly was a great way to reinforce things. The course was well-maintained and beautiful in the woods. It was challenging for all of us but not too hard. I appreciated that after a few obstacles & a zip line you get a few moments on the ground to regroup before heading back up. We went pretty quickly through the course and it was enty long, taking almost the full 3 hours including the safety practice time. The Tarzan jump into a net was definitely the highlight! We all loved zipping over Lum's Pond too. I even saw turtles! If you're an adult be prepared to land pretty hard in the mulch at the end of each zipline. I was very dirty but not hurt at all - just a heads up!

Visited on a very hot and humid day at the end of July. The instructors were terrific and all covid safety recommendations are followed. The first 30 mins is devoted to safety and trial runs at zip lines, climbs, crossings and Tarzan jump. If you can make it through that, you are all good to attempt the rest of the course solo. We went as a group of 3 kids (10,11&13) and 2 adults. It was definitely high and challenging for anyone who is even remotely fearful of heights but was a great way to push your own boundaries and challenge yourself. The platforms/stations can get backed up as groups move at different paces but patience is a must and most climbers were kind and didn’t make you feel rushed. I would suggest going early in the day to beat the crowds and heat. We are already planning our next go ape adventure.

Yesterday, my son, granddaughter (age 7), and I went to Lum’s State Park to have a go at the “Go Ape Treetop Journey.” To say we had a wonderful time is an understatement! The course was great for the little one; and nice for those of us with a little more skill, too. However, the factor that made the experience a true five-star event was the staff. Olivia, Ciara, Talia, and James were not only exceptional at their jobs, but they were also enthusiastic and encouraging. Their excitement was contagious! My granddaughter went from apprehensive to adventurous in a matter of moments. As a result, we will be back with friends. They should all be commended.

If you've never been zip lining & you're not sure if you should... let me make the decision for you: DO IT!
Gorgeous setting, a bit of thrill seeking, out in the woods but never far from amenities... this has everything you can ask for!
We went with a group of 7 - 4 adults, 3 tweens. When tweens are having as much fun as adults you KNOW you found a winner!

Took our family to GoApe TreeTop Adventure in Bear, DE this past weekend and we had a blast! The kids loved the adventures and obstacles. The view of the lake is an added bonus. Great family outing and great way to face any height challenges someone may have. We will be back soon!!

My husband and I want to take our grandson, age 11, for the Go Ape, Jr. We want to do it with him and wonder if we are too old. He is 83 and in good shape and I am 72 and lead a fairly physically active life. What do you think?

Hello!
There are no maximum ages - we'd love to have you! I would recommend that you take a look at some guest videos to get an idea of what the course entails to decide if it would be a good fit. We typically say the minimum fitness requirement is that you should be able to climb a ladder and a cargo net as both are required at at least one point in the course. I hope that we'll see you soon!

I have a broken wrist and get dizzy sometimes, is this still a good thing for me to do?

This is a physical activity...you climb up ladders, have to hook yourself into safety lines, etc. Not sure that a broken wrist would work so well with this physical activity...
