Levitt has free concerts all summer on a nice sloped lawn with good views. Bring a picnic and chairs. The music is mostly oldies and cover bands but there is some original music as well. People often dance. Research, pick and chose.

My one big gripe is that it is loud. Really loud. Loud even with ear plugs. Loud even in the back. Sometimes the volume is better in the parking lot by the library. Did I say loud?

This, in past years, has been an area treasure with nearly 2 months of free out door concerts suitable for a wide range of tastes.

They had a flow: small children items on Wednesday, Teen items on Saturday, slow and restful on Sunday, etc.

I can only guess this year there was a younger scheduler and he or she picked items to their taste. It got louder and more frantic with far fewer military bands, Broadway tones and the classics but a lot more drums.

I talked to several others who have attended in the past and they shared my opinions. They said it was hard to find one performance a week to attend.

Now this may be intentional and the Levitt may want a younger audience. If true I did not see it reflected in the audience makeup.

It ails me to give the Levitt an average rating, but the fact is that it's average. The location and architecture are unbeatable. Nestled on the banks of the Saugatuck River in picturesque New England town, Westport Connecticut, you can't get much more New England or USA than this set up. Walking distance to Main Street's shopping - it's truly incredible that Westport has a facility as beautiful as the Levitt. Of course, the selling point is that all of the shows here are free throughout the summer. And that's the problem. Sometimes you get what you pay for and unfortunately, free entertainment is generally going to sound like... free. I guess what is so disappointing about the Levitt is that it is probably one of the nicest and most intimate outdoor venues in all of Connecticut, maybe New England. But the acts that fill the free calendar are average at best, and most nights people come out to make a picnic and don't even pay much attention to the entertainment. The paid acts are not exactly terrific either. On opening night 2016, an Eagles cover band was billed and the event sold out within minutes as if it was really the Eagles who were coming to Westport. That's how hungry the locals are for some real entertainment at the Levitt. Imagine how exciting the Levitt would be with a modern band that actually plays original music (or even a Shakespeare in the Park type of event...). Even a few more nights per summer with some paid admissions would greatly improve and unlock the potential of this magical facility, but as long as it remains free (as heretical that would sound to most Westporters), the quality of the acts will continue to reduce optimal attendance. Still worth a visit or walk through during the day, just to marvel at the beautiful lawn and architecture since the stage was redone in 2015.

an outhistdoor amphitheatre, think "mini-central park" . the free entertainment is mixed from one night to another, closed mondays. the quality varies greatly from poor to quasi-excellent. but it is free, does not require reservations, and on a summer evening it occasionally seems romantic. people bring chairs or blankets, have picnics and just soak up the evening air, hopefully with pleasant music. you can come early or arrive late and leave as you please. many residents complain about the lack of consistency of the entertainment but balk at paying taxes to sustain a higher quality. it can be fun regardless of the level of entertainment, if you like to lay on a blanket on the grass. look at the sky, and breathe summer air from the surrounding water. westport is on the Connecticut coast, the "Sound" separating it from Long Island,N.Y.-- the amphitheater juts out like a finger on the saugatuck river. there is a short but pleasant walkway skirting the entire outside perimeter of the `amphitheatre.

Nice setting near the Saugatuck River. Cutting edge modern design makes this pace worthwhile a visit. Acoustics are excellent for an outdoors place.

This is the place to go in the summer for outdoor, free concerts. During the course of the year there are a couple of ticketed events to raise funds for the Pavillion but otherwise, all events are free.
There are different themed nights, such as for children, jazz, rock. Most concerts start around 7 or 7:30 p.m.
There are restrooms available but I only wish there was one, unisex handicapped restroom. Would make it so easy for me and my husband, who is in a wheelchair. The restrooms that are available are tight for a wheelchair, even though they are larger.

The Levitt has free concerts with something for everyone with their different nightly themes.
It is nice to bring a picnic dinner with a small table and chairs.
The facility also has some food and drinks on sale.
I would recommend going a bit early since this is now a very popular venue.

My cousin took us to see Le Vent du Nord. The music was great. A perfect summer night for an outdoor concert. However, we did not enjoy the political commentary between songs. When I go to a concert, I want to hear and enjoy the music. I would recommend going to this venue to anyone who wants to enjoy a concert. Bring your own chair, food and drinks. Very nice experience.

A lot of free performances, from bands you have probably never heard of. Name performers have substantial ticket prices, but underwrite the free ones. Beautiful new venue at a great expense. Parking can be difficult. If you are local and like to hear new (to you) music, it is a great place.
