This place is a great place to come and be alone or with others. Sand, Sun, skipping rocks and fishing - its all here. I came on a Sunday afternoon and only had to pay a $6 entrance fee - SCORE! I may not have caught any fish while sunbathing on the rocks, but they guy next to me did... More

To go here and see the beautiful sandy beach and shell lined, sand,is something to enjoy! I was there in April and it was nice, the sea air from the Sound. Looking forward to a nice day to body surf and relax, during the week day's? The other very moving site to this CT. State Park is the historic 911 Memorial. This was... More

Nice beach side park in Westport. I'm sure it's already been mentioned here but they make it really difficult to by more than a day's parking pass if you are a non-resident. If you come after Labor Day to before Memorial Day it's totally free though. Nice pavilion, disc golf course and interesting 9/11 memorial. - Ryan MacNamara, Stamford CT

I've always wanted to check this beach out. My family and I have been frequent visitors to Rocky Neck and Hammonasset state beaches for decades. Each have their pros and cons but the good has always far outweighed the bad. Too bad we cannot say that about Sherwood Island. THE BAD: The beach is rocky and covered with shells making... More

Not far off exit 18 on I-95, Sherwood Island State Park, along with its East and West beaches, offers the best, panoramic vistas of Long Island Sound I've ever seen (or even imagined)...and I say this as someone who grew up on the Sound. What a sensational place to stroll, sun, swim, or just generally while away the hours! If... More

This state beach is worth the small charge to visit and even more worthy of a stare pass in CT. Loads of parking..plenty of picnic space and you can walk the length of park on either sand or the boardwalk. Not much if any in way of concessions so pack accordingly. Dogs restricted until after season and still to be... More

Sherwood Island is part of the CT State Parks system which means you can purchase a State Park pass at their gate and that covers your admission for a year. It also includes all the other parks in the state. Sherwood Island is a beautiful space that can be utilized year-round. Of course, summer is great with the beach, sand... More

I've often wondered why more people don't know about Sherwood Island State Park - because it's rarely crowded yet offers scenic views, plenty of parking, picnic facilities and a huge beach for swimming. There's a snack bar and pavilion for parties - along with clean, accessible restroom facilities. There's often no admission charge during the week but there is one... More

Always a great stop for any meal, especially breakfast. Excellent service. Food is good. Amazing what that kitchen is able to deliver. Simple and reliable for many years.
