Nice beach but a bit crowded as it is near the port and the city center.
Not the best in Naxos bit the water is clean and you have the free beach.

Conveniently located but would rather spend my day at Plaka or another fine Naxos beach! This is a good beach for families.

A very convenient beach with lots of sand, shade and shops. Adjacent to the ferry dock and lots of small fishing boats, we like the proximity to tavernas, stores, small shops and restaurants. The water is clear and entry is easy. Usually plenty of room for all.

There are some far away smaller beaches on Iraklia, so the one's that most people here will use are Agios Georgios Beach at the main settlement or - far more popular - the one at Livadi, a bus ride or 20min walk away. Staying at Ag.Georgios its beach was quite convenient for me for a quick swim after a day out hiking in the countryside.

Much smaller than Livadi Beach it feels less private, because it is just by a harbour and a village. At both places the beach is sandy, but as soon as one steps into the water there are big pebbles, stones and rocks. At least at Ag.Georgios the water gets deeper more quickly, so I preferred it for a swim. Also here there is some shade thanks to tamasrisk trees, and there are benches - both missing at Livadi.

People might be worried to swim at a settlement, thinking of sewage and waste water, but all the visible seagrass further out is a sign that the water is pretty clean.

Lovely sandy beach within a short work of Chora (main town).

The sand at the nearest end to the town is a little darker and a little less golden, as one might expect from the level of use; but a short walk down the beach and it returns to lovely un-walked golden sands.

Sun Loungers are available from a range of the beach hotels and restaurants from as little as 10 euros for the day (per pair with umbrella).

It located very near the port of the island. Tall trees offer lots of shade.Especially attractive to those who definitely need shade and those not prepared to go a long distance to swim.

This review is for Agios Georgios South. We went in the easter holidays and was expecting the resort to be quiet .What we found was a a run down derelict depressing resort with the appeal of spending the week in downtown Beirut.A scattering of taverners which to be fair served up decent fayre , a few small market shops a car hire place and some poir soul trying to peddle coach trips to the scatterings of tourists in the resort This was without doubt the most miserable and depressing holiday we have ever experienced and we will not be going back anytime soon .

It's a beautiful sandy beach with trees to offer shade and many park benches that are very useful when you want to take a break from the sun, the sand that gets everywhere, or simply you can sit there while waiting for the ferry. The sea is clear and shallow, perfect for families with children. However, it is affected by northern winds.
