A Beautiful Afternoon
Oct 2020
I came here in the fall and it was gorgeous. We sat outside with picnic blankets and enjoyed the view. You can bring your own drinks and food but they also have delicious food on site along with the wine–which is tasty! It made for a beautiful afternoon out. I believe reservations need to be made for the outside tent area, at least that was the case for a Sunday afternoon in the fall. It was crowded a little inside when ordering, but there is plenty of room to socially distance outside.

Surprise surprise
Aug 2020
One quiet Wednesday afternoon we "discovered" this place.

Months later during the Covid scare we met up with some friends on a Saturday afternoon. Wow...what a place!

Around back is this tent. Ringling Bros. must have sold it to this winery. All the rules of the Covid society were followed...table more than 10 feet apart. Six foot markers by the bar service area. No tasting purchase a glass or a bottle return to your table.

They had music as entertainment. A gal her name, Ellen Dillon [I believe] singing with her accompany key board man. That alone as worth the price of admission. [which was "0"]. They served food, we brought our own. They had port-a-lavs and indoor facilities. A beautiful view. A well staffed facility.

The interior is huge with a nice deck [with a view].

This place is on the list for return visits.

Huge crowds on the weekend
Aug 2020
Sure the atmosphere is beautiful and rustic with an amazing deck with fantastic views, but when you're sharing all that with a boat load of other people.... Especially during covid, it's not so enjoyable. I ordered a cheese pizza.... Not a cheese plate. Which makes me think the staff can't handle the anxiety of all the customers. And, they didn't even offer any discount for getting it wrong.....The slushies however are too die for. Bring blankets or chairs in case you can't find seating. Overall I feel as if I was at a concert tail gating , but even they get the food right

Hi there, I'm sorry your food order was entered wrong. My staff is human and does make mistakes. If you'd like to return, please ask for me (Jeff) and I'd be more than happy to get you a slushy on me. Thanks!

2 strikes is enough for me
Aug 2020
I had been once before and was not thrilled with the wine, but wanted to give it one more shot before making a afinal decision. The wine was actually worse than i remembered and the place was over packed. There wasn't anything enjoyable about it. Clearly the place has appeal to many becuase it is always packed and there seem to be great reviews for the place. I just don't get it. I doubt i will give it a 3rd try, but never say never.

Think twice.
Jul 2020
This was our fiirst time here. Our daughter and her boyfriend have been here before. It has a beautifuf view and a nice deck to sit on outside if you don't choose the lawn. You can bring something to eat or buy food there. The wine selection is very good. Prices are so so but you can get a bottle for $22. My only complaint in this covid 19 era was that the girls serving the wine and uncorking the bottles did not wear gloves. When the cork came out of the bottle, she would hold onto the cork screw with one hand and the other untwirling the cork which she put back into the bottle. No Gloves. A no no in my book and I will not be back until I hear otherwise. Everyone had masks on and safe distanced themselves.

A Nice Group Visit
Jun 2020
We had a large group which they were able to handle easily. Large lawn, just go out and set up. Some wineries make life difficult for groups. We bought a lot of wine. First time visit for most of us. Two parking attendants kept that in order. Three different places you could buy wine by the glass or bottle. We brought our own food, which can be slow to come out if you buy on site. Nice band that didn't take a lot of breaks. Wine prices were on the high side, $25 and $30 for rose, which was nice. You can buy some world class rose for that money. Judging from all the grape varieties used, I sense they buy a whole lot of their grapes. The label certainly didn't say the rose was grown on site. Wanted to try the Petite Sirah which was on the wine list, but not available. At close to $40 quite expensive. Overall, one of the better CT wineries. Worth a visit on a nice warm day when you can sit outside.

Their sangria wine is DIVINE
Dec 2019
This is a surprisingly great winery in Connecticut. I've had a few first dates here and even brought my family here. I highly recommend doing a tasting, but end up with the Sangria wine. I live in Spain part-time and I have sangria on the regular. The one at Hawk Ridge is delicious. I'm telling you.

Gorgeous views and good wine!
Nov 2019 • Couples
My husband and I visited on a weekend away in CT... we have visited quite a few wineries in the area. It was almost dark by the time we arrived and a bit cold so we couldn’t really take advantage of the gorgeous views outside. We were surprised at how big the place was but there was plenty of parking. The wine tasting room is huge, and on this particular night it was very crowded, loud, and hard to find a seat. We started at the wine tasting bar, and it took a while for anyone to even notice us because they were busy with larger parties of taste testers. We did not get the most attentive or friendliest service but did manage to get to try six wines which were good to fair. The wine tasting Itself was reasonably priced. The bottles of wine, however seemed a bit pricey. For the tasting and two bottles of wine it was over $100. We had brought our own food, but did notice others getting food that looked quite delicious. I would like to try it again maybe during the summer and be able to take advantage of the beautiful view outside!
