My wife and I were extremely surprised at how beautiful this state park is in Waterford. The enormous open fields, beautiful beach areas, and gorgeous grounds around the Harkness mansion were quite impressive. I can't wait to go back, in the spring, to view the gardens around the mansion. We will definitely bring our family back to this gem!

Had a wonderful morning visit today at this stunning park. The grounds are extensive with lovely paths that wind through the estate and lead also to the magnificent shoreline. Today the beach was empty but for a few fishermen and many seagulls feasting on the shells washing up on the shore. The sun was bright and it was just glorious... More

If you're in town, I highly recommend stopping by Harkness Memorial. It has everything you could want - the water, the old mansions, the stunning gardens and big open fields. Plus, it is dog friendly! My fiance and I had our engagement photo shoot there, and it captured every type of shot we wanted. I can't wait to return next... More

This is hands down the best park/place to visit in Waterford. The grounds are always well kept and it has stunning, panoramic views of Long Island sound. I had my engagements pictures taken here, attended weddings and had family picnics. It's really perfect for any occasion. It is pretty amazing to think that this property once belonged to a family... We had an enjoyable time here. We went on a weekday after labor day. There was no fee for parking. We walked around the grounds enjoying the gardens the water views and beach. There were picnic tables on the grounds too. We weren't able to tour the house as it was closed.

This is a lovely park that highlights the natural beauty of the area. Wide open lawns with a view of the Long Island Sound. Sandy beach area to sit and enjoy looking at the water (no swimming), picnic tables on the grass, and clean restrooms. It is a great place to fly a kite. There are also beautiful manicured gardens... First off the views from each direction are simply stunning! The gardens are beautiful and the grounds are well manicured! Plenty of space to BBQ, wander, play games or just take a peaceful stroll!
