As a local here in Waterford, Harkness is a fave of ours. With beautiful views of Long Island Sound, the grounds and the flower gardens are all something to see. Plenty of room for everyone where there is lots of space to spread out, fly a kite, have a cookout what ever you choose. Beautiful Mansion to get married in... More

Beautiful, picturesque, quiet. Great place to have a family gathering to see the gardens walk ong the shore and view birds including ospreys. But the state charges too much money on the weekend for entrance into the park. And if you are an out of state vehicle it's even more.

Harkness is a wonderful place to visit. The gardens spectacular, the mansion beautiful. Gorgeous beach and huge lawn for picnicking and flying kites. Nice paved paths for young bikers.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It is an amazing park/estate located right on the waterfront. We visited around 4:00 on a weekday, so it did not cost anything to enter. The gardens were beautiful and in full bloom. The sandy beach is perfect for taking a dip (very clean, soft sand), picnic area, restrooms, and the constant ocean breeze makes... More

The flowers in the garden are wonderful to walk through. Then, stroll along the shore to the walkway and look out at the nature preserve. The outside of the mansion blends in naturally with the walkway and surroundings. Bring a picnic lunch as there is many picnic tables to choose from.

Beautiful pretty much sums it up. It's an amazing park with a gorgeous mansion (used for weddings and other events). Nice long walks along the shore with plenty of tables and grills available. It's an awesome place and we are blessed to have it in our back yard.
