We didn't make it in time for them to be open, but they left the front gate open and so we could walk around the grounds, taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. For the holidays, they did hang garland wreaths on the lighthouse itself which...More

Stone lighthouse. Amazing architecture. Terrific gift shop. Awesome historical nautical displays. Winding stairwell to top. Accessing dome is tricky with ladder. Gorgeous view. Well maintained. Parking further down narrow street at beach. Pretty area. Small museum but very quaint.

You will meander through the streets of Stonington to find this lighthouse, and parking is easiest about 100 yards further down water street at duBois beach and walking back. It was windy on the day I visited and I didn't take the tour as $9...More

We didn't actually go in but the structure is very pretty. It and the entire little town of Stonington are easily missed, I drove by it at least 3 times several years ago and found the lighthouse only after researching nearby lighthouses while visiting Mystic....More

What a great little museum. Park on the beach and get a far away view, then walk up and tour the lighthouse for some very interesting local history. It makes you really appreciate the lighthouse keepers and their lives. The view from the light is...More

Oldest lighthouse in the U.S.. Nice snapshot of historic New England life from several dimensions; war of 1812, whaling, ice harvesting, kids toys and other "genres". Very nice view from the top!

Park at the end point and walk 2 minutes up to the light house. Neat to see such a historic site. This is a good place to visit while you wait to eat at the Dog Watch Cafe down the street. The museum was already...More

This was the last stop on our self created lighthouse tour of the New England area. Started at West Quoddy Point and after 5 full days arrived at Stonington Ct. This was a well preserved lighthouse, off the beaten path, but worth the excursion to...More

Lots of interesting exhibits about sailing, whaling, the lighthouse, history of the area. It was fun to go to the top of the tower and see the view. Definitely worth an hour of your time. It's also right next to DuBois Beach so you can...More

Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes there is a huge parking lot at the end of the street which is just a very short walk to the museum and if you park facing west you will enjoy the most beautiful sunset over the water.
