- Leslie WNatick, Massachusetts339 contributionsIt was a decent parking lot leading to the beach where there is a gazebo of sorts though the step to get onto it is a challenge if you have a knee or any other issues. The beach itself is tiny and not particularly attractive. We went back for sunset but it was ok but not great. There are trees in the way of the total sunset so you could not see the sun sink into the water. Go somewhere elseVisited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 1, 2024
- GoingPlacesWanderlustLehigh Valley, Pennsylvania764 contributionsIf in the area it is worth the stop. The beach is small but the area is charming, featuring a gazebo and the Lighthouse. A diving class was underway. Off-season parking was plentiful. We ambled around the rocks, taking in the ocean view and snapping photos. We where told that to the left from Long Island, NY and to the right is Rhode Island. So it's nice to see 3 states at once. Also from there you can see Watch Hill, RI -- Taylor Swifts mega house.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 30, 2024
- EricaSDNorthampton, Massachusetts20 contributionsA nice little beach for an ocean view stop. Free parking and free off season beach access. The beach is small but nice, with a slow grade into the water but deep enough for swimming. Walking around the point on the rocks is fun exploring too, nice grassy area for picnics. There is even a little 'library' of beach toys for kids to borrow.Visited September 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 6, 2024

Dubois is a small sandy beach at the point in Stonington Boro. It is life-guarded during normal hours and there is a fee for admission. It is very convenient for residents but a bit of a drive for others. There are portable toilets but no concessions of any kind. There is a small pavillion for shade but no natural shade. Nice spot for sunset viewing.

I wanted to do something special for my birthday, something a little different than other years. So we visited Dubois Beach ( Stonington Point) and watched the sun go down. It was picturesque, it was very warm for a late Autumn afternoon and just splendid. We picked up some takeout burgers ate in the car and walked around afterwards and took in the breath taking view.

If you visit iconic beach town Stonington, CT take a stroll down the end of the main street to Dubois Beach. The view is breathtaking, white sandy beach is perfect for warming the toes.
There are large rocks to sit and breathe in the view of the water and sailboats. Great place to take a load off and remember the simplicity of sitting by the water.

We were staying in Stonington for a few days and walked to this beach a different times of the day. Good place to look out to sea. Has ample parking and although beach is small it is very pleasant

Last summer some New England publication listed Dubois beach as one of the top ten in the region. Who am I to argue with the experts. It’s different. It’s convenient to the residents of Stonington Boro. Come to think of it, perhaps the writers had a warped sense of humor.
It is small. Looking at the Google photo my estimate is about a quarter of an acre at high tide. It’s a family beach, no beach scene here. It’s on the harbor, surfs never up. And oh by the way, there is an entry fee in season
Twenty minutes up the road you have Misquamicut with the beach scene. Thirty minutes up the road you have East Beach with miles of undeveloped beautiful sand. Both of these are on the Atlantic.
So come to DuBois if you want a funky interesting beach. You can walk across the street to the lighthouse museum or walk into the Boro for a drink or dinner.

I live in the borough so I walk by here almost every day with my dog. The beach is almost at the end of the point and is a small, pleasant, clean, safe beach which has a lifeguard in the summer. There's a floating dock about 50 yds offshore and stone breakwaters either side the beach define it. Definitely a great place for families with young children. There's no permanent bathroom, just a portapotty which becomes less pleasant the warmer the day is. There are also no changing rooms but there is a nice covered gazebo with each seats for some shade. No dogs allowed :-(
There is an entry charge during the summer which pays for the lifeguard, but if you don't need the lifeguard, be like the locals and go after 5pm.
Interesting info - the beach was created by subscription after the 1938 hurricane destroyed the houses that were there. Local schoolchildren (one of who is my neighbor and told me the story) collected donations to purchase the land and pay for sand to be carted in to form the beach.

On our first day at The Ocean House, we were given directions to Stonington Borough, and instructions to park at Stonington Point, to see the Old Stonington Lighthouse & Museum. That put us right at duBois Beach, a little bit of sand, at the Point’s end, and steps from the lighthouse. We found ample parking at duBois Beach, and spent time just wandering there, before heading up the street to the lighthouse, and its museum.
The drive to duBois Beach takes one down narrow Water St, where the last few blocks have two-way traffic. This was easy for us to navigate, as we were visiting before Memorial Day weekend, and early morning traffic was light. In the Summer, I think that there could well be traffic congestion. Also, on our visit, the parking area was virtually empty, and while it appeared ample, could get crowded, when the tourists of Summer arrive. As it was, we had the area to ourselves, except for a mother and daughter, on the small beach.
The actual beach area is rather small, but nice, and is located on an inlet from Block Island Sound, so while on the water, it is not on the Atlantic, per se. There is an open-sided shelter, and then the access from the parking lot. On the day of our visit, the waves in the Sound were light, and with the sunshine, the water looked inviting. We only did a stroll of the beach, between the rock jetties, and took in the surrounding area.
A great place to start our exploration of Stonington Borough from.

Just before leaving the area for the day, we stumbled upon this cozy and serene beach. The picturesque sunset was a great view before going back home.

No, there’s a fee for the beach during the day but no fee for the rest of the point.

Officially no, but many local people take their dogs there after hours or out of season. It's VERY important that you pick up after your dog if you do that.

Is it always open to the public during the day? Or is it just for people from Stonington during the day?
Written August 5, 2016
This pretty little beach is open to the public during the day. There was a $10 per person fee this morning when we visited the beach.

No waves when I visited. It was very calm.
