I have never missed a show here in 22 years!! The local actors work so hard and do AMAZING performances!!! I've had my favorites: Company, Rocky Horror, Big, West Side Story, Steel Magnolias to name a few musicals. The dramas have given me goosebumps at times and the comedies have given me good belly laughs!! I don't know why anyone who loves or even just likes the theater wouldn't come to each performance!! You won't be disappointed! Just wonderful!!!!

We have been to the playhouse on many occasions. Tickets are just $24.00 or on Thursday's before opening night only $12.00. It's open seating but there's no bad seating. They are pew seats and raised. The theater is really small so even if you are the last row you're only 20 feet away from the stage. Always Chefnfly

We've been to the Sherman Playhouse a number of times. The plays were very entertaining, well directed and we enjoyed them all. The venue looks to have been a town hall at one time. Its a small seating area , with no bad views. There is no reservation, its first come first seat. You can purchase tickets on line or at the door. During intermission they serve light beverages and a few selection of treats.
The setting is beautiful, you are high in the northwest hills of CT. with Ny border just 5 miles away.
Check out their web site , and show your support for local theatre....Enjoy Always Chefnfly

My wife and I went to see “Hair.” We left at the break, along with a bunch of theater goers. Poor production at best. Previously, my daughter had gotten tickets for us fora play. We went to the play only to find that a different production was chosen. We sat in the first row and endured two actresses screaming at each other for an hour. Half the audience snuck out at the break. They couldn’t get to their cars fast enough...

This past weekend was my second trip to the Sherman Playhouse. The converted church (with seating for approximately 100) offers an intimate space to get up close and personal with the cast. All of the bells and whistles of larger venues are in place - lighting, sound, etc. There is even a "green room" for snacks at intermission.

My husband and I love a couples night out watching a performance here. It's small and the shows are always enjoyable.
Intermission with homemade cookies and a beverage help support a good cause.
Take advantage of this local theater.

My sweetheart and I attended the production of Rocky Horror Picture Show yesterday at the Sherman Playhouse. Her friend's daughter has the part of Riff-Raff in the show. I love seeing Rocky either when it is on television, but especially when they do live performances of it. The playhouse itself is waaaaaaaaaaaaay out in the boondocks of Sherman, right behind the firehouse. It's an old building, the seating looks like church pews, but they do have comfy cushions on the seats. The sound system is adequate. If you need to use the bathrooms, you must go outside around to the side of the building and into another entrance. They do serve snacks and beverages (alcoholic and non) during intermissions, which you can bring back to your seats. There is no assigned seating, it's first come first served as to where you want to sit. It was an excellent production of Rocky and the props of course are always enjoyable (Great Scott!). A decent venue for a show, but if the daughter had not been in the cast, it's a far ride from Stratford, but still an enjoyable playhouse. Let's do the Time Warp again!

Majestic in its place atop a beautiful Connecticut hill, nestled in the charm of a quintessential Yankee treasure, The Sherman Playhouse is sure to warm your heart and spirit of supporting quality local arts!! A mischievous and well considered season of offerings makes this gem a must see destination despite its rural feel. Casts are formed under the auspices of "local" talent but take note, this is NOT cut-rate, nor sub-par. The hills of this tiny enclave holds many quality actors who bring their "A" game to each and every production. Something for everyone, not necessarily all musicals, or all classics but sometimes the morsels theatre lovers forget they love to appreciate and see!! Seating is done in the style of its building, New England church pews, with padding, and cozy. It is air-conditioned and heated and sometimes parking can be a small walk from the near-by town offices shared parking lot. Currently under major renovations to the lower level of the building, the inconvenience of bathroom usage at the adjacent city offices, will be temporary. Construction on lovely new bathrooms, green room, and dressing area for the talent is expected to be completed by April 2015. Ticket pricing is very reasonable and preview price is even lower!! The Playhouse is also home to a lively Improv evening attended by a group of irregulars who play and perform and audience participation is gleefully encouraged and welcomed!!Troupe holds court at intervals allowed by the current running show of the Playhouse. Check website for details. The Sherman Playhouse is worth the trip...
