Far and away the best recreational lake Monday thru Thursday in CT if not New England. 9 miles long and nearly 1.5 miles wide at it's widest point this lake is absolutely gorgeous especially at the northern end where the Litchfield Hills rise out of the lake. Great oops for recreational boating, swimming, fishing and lounging. It's only 75 miles north of mid town Manhattan. Highly recommend it. It can be overly crowded on Summer weekends but you will have it to yourself Monday to Thursday

Great boat rentals at Gerards Waters Edge Marina. We rented a pontoon boat for 10 people and toured the lake all day. The rental was expensive but split between three couples, it was well affordable. We dropped anchor, swam, water tubed, ate lunch, toured the lake...had a great time. Great people to deal with

We were invited to the private lake house neighborhood of Candelwood Lake in New Fairfield by friends of ours to celebrate the fourth of July, only a 45 minute ride from Trumbull and it feels like a whole different world, reminds me of the Cape, beautiful beaches and crystal clear water the Lake is huge about 8 miles and is the largest lake in Connecticut, the lake is bordered by five towns: Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, and Sherman, there is also public access to the lake, where we were, there was a private dock and 2 beaches with swimming platforms, we also went on our friends pontoon for a ride across the lake, it is beautiful up and down the Lake, there were plenty of other boaters, water skiers and jet skis enjoying the great weather, fun time was had by all, can't wait to return

Candlewood Lake is a great place for boating and fishing. The town of Sherman has a boat launch for your trailer/boat. Just bring your own bait or stop in New Milford for some. Avoid during the holidays, tooo crowded. pete

Went out boating with friends and loved it as we always do. Beautiful weather and scenery. Very crowded on such a nice day so be very careful with all the boats and jet skis and such. Find a calm cove and drop anchor and swim and take it all in. Everyone so friendly. Keep an eye out for the friendly pirate ship that may come to visit. So much fun was had. An absolute must if you are in the area.

The fall foliage was beautiful reflected off the lake. We visited during an unseasonably hot fall day and the area was full of families enjoying the beautiful weather.

Perfect lake to learn how to host, water ski or tube on. Very quaint and peaceful. Love to go out for week day dinners. That's when the lake is peaceful.

Love this lake and nearby Squantz Pond ....but with more people, more boats, more pollution and more homes, how long will this gem last?
