We took the Military History of the Thames tour. It was very informative and a lovely way to see the Thames from a new perspective. The crew and tour guides were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The boat was nice and clean and the tour started promptly on time. I can't wait to check out some other tours from Thames River Heritage!

So exotic and fun way to see Connecticut
Great escape from city life. I live in New York
And when you take this taxi you feel like you could be anywhere in the world on the water. Try it.
Next to this Water Taxi in New London
Is the ferry to Fishers Island. Also
A wonderful experience.
Take a train from New York City for the day
You can catch it at Pennsylvania Train Station

Hi Lisa,
We're so pleased that you took the "train to the Thames". Thanks so much for your review. We hope you'll be back soon, especially now that the weather is cooperating. Always lots to see, do, eat, and drink here in New London.

Seeing a city from the water makes me smile. The captains and mates on the Water Taxi were friendly and welcoming. They suggested places for lunch. I enjoyed walking along the harbor in the park and relaxing on the pier while waiting for my train.

I heard of the Water Taxi from friends and family who had a great time so I decided to take my family on a beautiful Friday afternoon. We met the Taxi at Ft. Trumbull after a lovely walk through the old fort. We were greeted with smiles from the captain and first mate as we boarded the Taxi. The helpful volunteers greeted us with information of how the Taxi came to be and welcomed us aboard!
As we took off we learned about the amazing history of New London and even saw a submarine being worked on at Electric Boat! The staff were amazing with answering our questions and offered up fun trivia facts as we motored on.
Once we got to our destination we learned that our ticket also granted us discounts at some shops and restaurants around City Pier!!
Would recommend the Thames River Water Taxi for a nice date night cruise or even after a few drinks downtown! Can't wait to ride again!

Even with the short rain break we had so much fun. We learned lots of new things about the history of the area, took the water taxi - capt and first mate were great! - for the first time, enjoyed good food (twice), and had a really enjoyable day. We are already planning to do this with our summer visitors.
You can do one, two, or all three quests depending on how much time you have. I recommend all three because it really is fun. And there is good food to be found on both sides of the river.

We were on holiday from Scotland last year and enjoyed several trips on the water taxi. It was a fantastic way to go from Groton to New London. My 6 year old son loved it, so much better than taking the car. The staff were courteous and friendly and being able to get a glimpse of a submarine as we travelled over only the made the journey that much more exciting for my son. Would thoroughly recommend this especially for people with young children.

If you are a history buff, don’t miss this 90 minute tour. Learned more about the Groton/New London area during this tour than in all my years in school.

The water taxi that travels to Groton, Ft Trumbull and New London leaves from this lovely little park. The water taxi is an excellent way to travel to the Fort and to New London. Check the schedule before you go. The boat captain and first mate were terrific, answering all of our questions and sharing loads on information. The cost of the water taxi was very reasonable - $10. There is free public parking nearby so we left our card there for the day. This little park is also very close to Ft. Griswold, another great place to visit.

Wonderful way to get some history in your day! Traveling by boat to local landmarks was such a unique treat! Captain Mark and his shipmate Logan were very informative and hospitable. Both of our children (14y,10y) had a great time and learned a lot. Definitely will be doing this again!
