The green is a nice place to gather during the day. It is surrounded by some nice buildings that are nice to photograph and explore. At night the area seems a little sketchy though.

This is a wonderful place to go for a stroll, enjoy the nice weather, people watch, and enjoy many of the numerous activities that are held here. They have concerts here in the summer, and over the holidays it's a great way to look at the lights. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping opportunities nearby, especially as Yale is so close. Yale, and the historically-planned Green, give this area a lovely settled feeling. When school is in session, there are a lot of students lounging on the green or playing frisbee.…

When you look at the modern skyscrapers along the park’s Church Street side, it can be easy to forget how historic the New Haven Green really is. This is the centerpiece of the New Haven Green Historic District, the heart of the original Puritan settlers’ “Nine Square Plan,” which represented the first planned city in America. The Green has existed since 1638, and continues to be a major gathering place for New Havenites all these centuries later.…

That's what brought us to the green. Nice place/layout to see a summer concert. Security is on hand if needed. Will say as you walk into the green there are elements that take place that can make this area a bit sketchy. Don't know what it's like when there isn't a concert taking place.…
