Wooster Street has been long acclaimed for its great Italian food, Sally's and Pepes lead the pack, but the others are very good as well. we try and order out or go early to avoid the crowds- often there are long lines on weekends and many evenings. There are also more upscale restaurants that are a great experience as well. I prefer this little Italy to NYC and Boston for food.

New Haven has many restaurants along with its Little Italy section. There are just a few Italian restaurants in Little Italy of which most are pizzerias. After visiting Little Italy in Boston and NYC there is no comparison. Unless you are really in the mood for pizza stay closer to the center of the city and try the different restaurants there.

I grew up in New Haven in the 50s. I feared Little Italy would have been homogenized into standard "amerika" by now. Not so. Great Italian food. Place after place. And Wooster Square has been preserved so it gives a wonderful glimpse into New Haven life 100 years ago. Go!

I'm sorry, we just didn't get it. Maybe we went on the wrong time but we had some pizza, it was fine, nothing to write home about. We walked the block. We waited forever for Italian cookies (only 1 person in front of us) the service was beyond slow. And then the overpriced cookies were just so so. My Stop and Shop Italian cookies are on par. I'm Italian but I have no desire to ever go back. There was nothing special, nothing quaint, nothing authentic about our experience.

No one in New Haven calls it Little Italy. It is simply Wooster St. and has the best pizza places ever, plus Libby's for desert!

Pepes has become a chin, Sallys has been bought by a corporation, Libbys has best italian ice anywhere but you cant get expresso to go, and the lady just doesnt care for humans. Abate is like dominoes, Frank and marys is gone, Perrotis is gone, Cavaliers deli is gone, the liquor store stinks of incense and there is no freakin parking and the yale alums and jerkface manhattanites block the street, which is the only direct onramp to interstate 95 north. Go to state st for modern pizza, gramd ave for your cannolis and also adriannas for real italian food. made by albanians.

There are many Little Italies in the Northeast. Some are festive and worth visiting, but this one is not. I can't find anything Italian here except a couple pizzerias. This neighborhood is largely residential and has almost nothing to offer.

Such a beautiful little neighborhood. Full of leafy trees and cannoli. Go for a stroll. Have some dessert. What more do you really need?
