The Bikinis at Long Wharf Theatre
We had a wonderful girls' night out enjoying the show The Bikinis. Great music that brought back nostalgia for us all. The theatre is a wonderful venue that puts you close to the actors and has great acoustics. Go see this fun show.

    Intimate venue.... great staff!
Went to see Robert Wahl at a Sunday matinee of his "Assume The Position" production of his hit HBO show. Our first time there but won't be the last. I luv the fact that its an easy in - easy out place. The entire staff is extremly helpfull and the seat/help ratio is off the charts. There isn't a bad seat in the house. i'd estimate a 700 seat capacity and very comfortable seats. Free ample parking instead of paying big bucks at a garage. There is a small full bar in the waiting area which carries everything from bottled water @ $2 to choclate chip cookies and inbetween.

    Play: Paradise Blue
An excellent play enacted by three men & two females on the travails of their jazz band closed ,set in the mid-40,s in Detroit. Not a single dull moment in this tigbtly knit play that lasted for 2 hours +. The setting was an authentic bar cum restaurant with a bedroom that was rolled in at a higher level on the stage. The theme was tragi-comic depicting the never say die spirit for survival. This place offers great theater experience to the New Haven citizens and entrance is free for all library members. Amazing to know the love of theater goers of New Haven as the hall was full house !

After having dinner in Milford at the Seven Seas Restaurant, we went to see the show "The Bikini's". The seating is on three sides of the theater, each about 10 rows up. A nice cozy atmosphere. The sound system was excellent, the production well done. An overabundance of parking available. It is not visiable from the street, one must drive into a warehouse area and right in the middle of it is this wonderful theater. Shows are reasonably priced. They have redone the interior making this an intimate theater. Go see a show there, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I found ourselves in New Haven on New Year’s weekend. As school (Yale) was not in session, many of the attractions were closed to. We searched the internet on Friday for something to do on Saturday, and found the Long Wharf Theatre.

Lucky for us, there was 1 show playing entitled “Steve Soloman’s My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish, I’m Home for the Holidays – The Therapy Continues” and it had 4 tickets still available. The seats were in the back and the left of the stage so we were worried about the view – however it posed no problem once there. We could see everything just fine! We picked up our will call tickets 30 minutes before the show, and we able to order some drinks/snacks at the bar. The show itself was hysterical!

The hardest thing was finding the Theatre! While it is next door to Ikea, it is hidden in a lot behind a Bank and Brazi’s Restaurant. The area across the Theatre looks like a food warehouse. It’s a good thing our show was at 2pm. If we had opted for the 8pm show we might not have found the Theatre!

Wonderful acting and great set designs .
Unfortunately the play we saw was not particularly good. Artistic director in our opinion blew this one , but to be fair this place is a gem

Great, affordable live entertainment with some amazing stars. Interesting shows and there is not a bad seat in the house. Plenty of parking and easy location off the main RT 95 corridor. Two easy places to eat or have a drink before or after a show in the same parking lot.

My mom and I frequent the Long Wharf Theatre. As Hamden library card holders, we are able to reserve 2 free tickets to see shows. This has been great for us because we get to see shows we might not normally get to see. We have seen several shows-some great, some not so great. But for free, what more could you ask for? The theatre is small but charming. I think the small size makes it feel more like home. They also have a bar, or if that's not your thing, you can order coffee or cookies or soda. The lobby is nice, and you can walk around during the intermission.
I think people forget about this place because it's kind of on the beaten path, but I feel those are always the best places. If you appreciate that kind of thing, this is for you. Give the theatre a chance- you won't regret it! Full of charm and culture.

The production of Steve Martin's Picasso At The Lapine Agile was an excellent night of theater. The characters were so well defined and the set was very well done. An extra treat was having Mr. Martin in the audience I was there. Awesome!
I would like to return to the Long Wharf to enjoy their other shows, as I'm sure they'll be great too!

We have been to the Long Wharf several times. The last time we went to see Sam Waterson in a play. I think it was a Russian play. The seats were REALLY close together and honestly unless you knew the history behind the play it was impossible to follow. We left half way through.
