For nearly 70 years, we have provided visitors the opportunity to experience nature first hand, whether it be on our 10+ miles of trails, in our natural history museum, our Nature Store, or as part of one of our many programs. The creation of the Coogan Farm Nature and Heritage Center in 2013 has added additional layers of education, history, and ecology to our offerings. Our mission is to inspire an understanding of the natural world and ourselves as part of it - past, present and future. It is our hope that through DPNC and Coogan Farm that we will help our visitors foster a personal environmental ethic.

My wife and I found the Nature Center by accident and decided to stop in. So glad we did. The exhibits were clean and the hiking trails were well kept. While we were hiking we got to see a hen turkey about 5 feet off of the trail.

Hi Cory! So glad you found us! Were you hiking on the orange trail? We had a turkey nest just a few feet off that trail that we stumbled across earlier this spring, with the hen sitting still as a statue on it during a light rain. We have at least one pair, plus a young Tom, that frequent our... More

Wow this place is great. I came up from Florida and randomly stopped in and was blown away at how great this place is. And the theatre experience was so nifty! Superb hidden gem. I will be donating here every year.

Had a wonderful time here..not too many animals to see here but whatever they have is cool and you see the animals eating outside and the trails that you can go on are very fun! We recommend it! 😀

This past weekend my family visited the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center to try the trails there. It was a very nice afternoon and the Nature Center had way much more to offer than just great walking trails. They had animal exhibits and other educational activities as well. The trails were beautiful and included boardwalks over marsh, a lovely pond and... More

[tl;dr = LOVED it!] This learning center, which is growing and adding programs all the time, is a favorite. I go there with just my husband sometimes. This time we had an easily distractible 10 year old with us. Our little friend bounced from exhibit to exhibit very quickly and she really loved everything. Be sure to find the darkened... More

There was a cool pond, really neat owls and lots of trails to hike. My friends and I had a great time.

The trail head is not within the nature center but worth the exploration to find it. Well marked trails meander through forest, field and over a creek. Very nice way to spend a bit of time outside for a non-shopping experience!

The trails were short and not spectacular. The map was ok and some of the outer trails were not well marked and were same way in/out, not loops. I did enjoy the old stone walls on one of the trails.

Really enjoyed this center. It's not huge but I felt it was just right for us and our six year old daughter. We consider ourselves avid nature lovers and this place hit the spot for a nice walk around the trails discovering things we found interesting. We hope to return once it warms up and discover even more.

Thanks for visiting! Definitely come back in the spring, summer and fall, there is always something different to see! Did you notice all the skunk cabbage popping up? And the peepers and tree frogs have started singing! Spring is coming! More

Our family loves the Nature Center. It is the perfect place to take the kids for some interesting and manageable hikes. The staff also leads some longer and interesting local hikes. There is a wide range of on site programming for kids in different age groups, and terrific summer camps.
