The sunset cruise on June 24th was a great experience. The reservation process was quick and the only suggestion that I would offer is that the check-in process could be improved. The access to the dock is very limited and with the number of guests the waiting passengers must crowd into a small area on the city sidewalk. The crew could have been more helpful in providing information to those of us that arrived at the time we were given to check in. We waited twenty to twenty-five minutes before a crew member finally began the check in process.

Thank you for your review AND for the suggestions. We have added signage to our check-in area and had a brainstorming session with some good results (we hope).

Argia Mystic Cruise was on our list of things to do on our trip up the coast of Connecticut and Rhode Island, It did not disappoint. Captain Jack and the crew were friendly and eager to share their love of sailing as well as their knowledge of the area. The weather and wind were perfect, the views were beautiful and the stories they told were enthralling. The schooner is a beautiful vessel, treated with tender loving care and we thoroughly enjoyed the couple of hours we spent on it. This is definitely a must-do if you are in the area during their operating season.

The cruise was relaxing and beautiful. Captain Jack and the crew expertly navigated through shifting winds, while amusing us with local tales. Reservations and check-in were easy. Would highly recommend this memorable trip.

Our family booked 14 people for a morning sail on this classic sailing ship as part of a birthday party. We were allowed to set up a few birthday banners on the sides; as we didn't otherwise hinder the crew from raising the sails. The loading dock is right next to the famous lift bridge, so this is easy to find. Note downtown Mystic parking can be tight, so the morning departure made it easier to find several parking spots.
The ship departed promptly @ 9:30 AM and would travel down the Mystic River out into Fishers Island Sound. We traveled around Fishers Island and then onto Noank & Groton Long Point during the ~2 hour cruse. Because we stayed mostly in the river and the protected Sound, the waves were not too rough and it was relatively easy to walk on the deck. We brought just some light drinks & refreshments; I don't think you want to attempt to eat too much on a sailing ship's desk.
We all enjoyed the waterside tour of this part of the seashore. A good family outing that still leaves you plenty of time in your day to see the rest of downtown Mystic.

Watching the crew (with the help from some passengers) put up the 3 sails was very exciting. The crew - Captain Jack, Colleen and Tina were very informative and personable. Beautiful evening, perfect for sailing. Also cool to see the fog roll in and how quick the crew responded to get us back near port and out of the fog. Great experience! Highly recommend!

Fantastic sail on the Schooner Argia the other afternoon! There was a nice breeze but the water wasn’t rough at all. Everything was really well thought out for social distancing with the separate seating areas well spaced from each other. We only had the option of sitting on the cabin top because the benches with backs were already full but it was really comfortable with nice cushions. The crew was super friendly and informative and wore masks the whole time. I would definitely recommend this trip, it was an amazing way to see the whole area and experience the maritime part of Mystic.

We took the sunset cruise on July 4. Maybe the crew was in extra-good spirits, but they were absolutely delightful. It was interesting to watch them handle the rigging and also interesting to hear their stories.
Sailing is so relaxing and the surroundings were just so beautiful. Despite the lack of wind that evening (making it necessary to use the engine a bit more than the captain would have liked), we had a very quiet, peaceful, lovely sail.
Thank you, Argia Mystic!

Over several vacations in various places we have tried to go on a boat ride and failed for one reason or another. Turns out, those were all leading to this perfect experience aboard the schooner Argia. Everything was as good as it gets. Perfect weather, stiff enough breeze to fill the sails fully, but not lead to choppy waters; blue cloudless sky, capable and friendly Captain Eric and his crew Tina and Mary, water lapping against the side of the vessel as we gently motored out of the mooring area. It was fascinating to watch the sails go up, and come down. These crews work hard, and they love their work. And that adds to the enjoyment. They went out of their way to make us all feel welcome. In addition, Mary's narratives about local shoreline lore were very entertaining. Great activity during this pandemic as there were excellent safety measures in place.

We completely enjoyed our sail in Mystic and would highly recommend it. Captain Amy and the crew were friendly, engaging and seemed to really enjoy sailing with their "guests." Our sail happened to be the last of the season and the sunny, early fall weather was a huge bonus. The history and stories provided about different places in the harbor kept us entertained. Planning on another sail when we return to Mystic.

My husband doesn't hear very well. Just wondering which seats would be best for the two of us for him to be able to hear the narration best.
Thank you!

The crewmember who does the speaking moves around the deck so that, depending on the wind direction, the wind is always at their back. This being said, the front half of the ship will most often be closest to the crewmember doing the speaking. The BEST suggestion we can give you is to let our office know your concern at least a couple hours before sailing so we can let the crew know. There is no reason we can't tailor what we are doing to make hearing easiest for you.

AS answered, the owners are two women who take turns sailing the ship. During the sail, you will be offered some light snack and soft drink. The captain, mates, and owner are all very cordial and professional.

We may be in the area next week. We were wondering you times for sailing around the 10th or 11th. What would you advise how to dress this time of year

Well worth checking the website for updated information if you plan to visit after Labor Day. As with all travel, best to dress in layers and wear sunscreen when on the water.
