Our family booked 14 people for a morning sail on this classic sailing ship as part of a birthday party. We were allowed to set up a few birthday banners on the sides; as we didn't otherwise hinder the crew from raising the sails. The loading dock is right next to the famous lift bridge, so this is easy to find. Note downtown Mystic parking can be tight, so the morning departure made it easier to find several parking spots.

The ship departed promptly @ 9:30 AM and would travel down the Mystic River out into Fishers Island Sound. We traveled around Fishers Island and then onto Noank & Groton Long Point during the ~2 hour cruse. Because we stayed mostly in the river and the protected Sound, the waves were not too rough and it was relatively easy to walk on the deck. We brought just some light drinks & refreshments; I don't think you want to attempt to eat too much on a sailing ship's desk.

We all enjoyed the waterside tour of this part of the seashore. A good family outing that still leaves you plenty of time in your day to see the rest of downtown Mystic.

Fantastic sail on the Schooner Argia the other afternoon! There was a nice breeze but the water wasn’t rough at all. Everything was really well thought out for social distancing with the separate seating areas well spaced from each other. We only had the option of sitting on the cabin top because the benches with backs were already full but it was really comfortable with nice cushions. The crew was super friendly and informative and wore masks the whole time. I would definitely recommend this trip, it was an amazing way to see the whole area and experience the maritime part of Mystic.

Over several vacations in various places we have tried to go on a boat ride and failed for one reason or another. Turns out, those were all leading to this perfect experience aboard the schooner Argia. Everything was as good as it gets. Perfect weather, stiff enough breeze to fill the sails fully, but not lead to choppy waters; blue cloudless sky, capable and friendly Captain Eric and his crew Tina and Mary, water lapping against the side of the vessel as we gently motored out of the mooring area. It was fascinating to watch the sails go up, and come down. These crews work hard, and they love their work. And that adds to the enjoyment. They went out of their way to make us all feel welcome. In addition, Mary's narratives about local shoreline lore were very entertaining. Great activity during this pandemic as there were excellent safety measures in place.

The sunset cruise on June 24th was a great experience. The reservation process was quick and the only suggestion that I would offer is that the check-in process could be improved. The access to the dock is very limited and with the number of guests the waiting passengers must crowd into a small area on the city sidewalk. The crew could have been more helpful in providing information to those of us that arrived at the time we were given to check in. We waited twenty to twenty-five minutes before a crew member finally began the check in process.

The cruise on the Argia was a great activity for our family of 4. The crew was engaging and answered everyone’s questions while sharing fun historical facts.

The ship is impressive - the sails, the ropes, the masts and the peacefulness of the waves once the engine was turned off after the sails were raised. The captain and crew expertly navigated the ship.

Social distancing during COVID worked well - masks were only needed when entering, exiting or waking around the ship- while seated no masks were needed and it was great to feel the breeze.

We took the sunset cruise on July 4. Maybe the crew was in extra-good spirits, but they were absolutely delightful. It was interesting to watch them handle the rigging and also interesting to hear their stories.

Sailing is so relaxing and the surroundings were just so beautiful. Despite the lack of wind that evening (making it necessary to use the engine a bit more than the captain would have liked), we had a very quiet, peaceful, lovely sail.

Thank you, Argia Mystic!

Argia Mystic Cruise was on our list of things to do on our trip up the coast of Connecticut and Rhode Island, It did not disappoint. Captain Jack and the crew were friendly and eager to share their love of sailing as well as their knowledge of the area. The weather and wind were perfect, the views were beautiful and the stories they told were enthralling. The schooner is a beautiful vessel, treated with tender loving care and we thoroughly enjoyed the couple of hours we spent on it. This is definitely a must-do if you are in the area during their operating season.

I recently took a group of residents out on the Argia Sailing Schooner. From the booking process, to individuals joining our reservation, to some cancelling their reservations the day of, the staff at Argia went above and beyond to accommodate our group and communicate all details to me-the trip planner. They even rearranged seating for the folks that had booked on their own, so they could sit near the group, without us even asking which was very thoughtful! The day of the trip was a little gray, but Amy called and assured us we would be good to go. We were! Once at the ship, the staff was helpful in getting us all seated, explaining the safety features and what we would see and do. Along the way we had wonderful young gentlemen tell us about the history of Little Dumpling Island, Ram Island and Fishers Island. They encourage friends to help hoist the sails, chatted with the residents and answered many questions about the history of the ship and the local area. They were very down to earth and helpful. From beginning to end the Argia's customer service was second to NONE! The Argia is a well-known tourist draw in beautiful downtown Mystic, but they don't treat you as a 'tourist' they treat you like a friend. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our sailing with Argia. The crew including Oliver and Jack were awesome and knowledgeable. We loved the great stories they shared along the way about the various islands, bridges, lighthouses and the occupants. A bonus was getting to help them raise the sails which was a good glimpse into the crews hard-work for a smooth ride.
It was a beautiful ride and being able to bring our own drinks aboard was a plus. We'd definitely recommend them if you're in the area.

A bit of a last minute plan for us as an addition to our visit to Mystic, and so very glad that we sailed! We booked the 3 pm afternoon cruise which best fit our schedule (Mystic Aquarium in the morning!). However, it is early in the season so as the summer progresses, don’t wait too long to reserve. The crew was terrific! They engaged the passengers in “helping" to hoist the sails which was good fun! I was so happy that this is so much more than a “great ride”, as we learned a lot as well! Oh man, I can’t remember his name, but he is the Staff Captain if you will (he has red hair!) and he was a great tour guide, telling us all about Fisher Island and North Dumpling Island - fascinating stories! And the 3 in rank (he has dark hair! - sorry I’m so bad with names!) walked around talking to all of the passengers throughout the sail, interacting, answering questions, etc. Lemonade and water are provided, and feel free to bring your own wine on board, many passengers did. Highly recommend, beautiful, fun and informative!
