About
Get ready to be amazed as you have an unforgettable experience driving your own personal power boat up the Mystic River. On our 3-hour tour you can get an up-close and personal view of historic landmarks, including the Mystic Drawbridge and Mystic Seaport. As we head back down into open water, we let it rip and catch breathtaking views of the Fishers Island Sound, local lighthouses, and CT, NY, and RI waterways. This is one of the most unique adventures you’ll ever have, definitely a bucket-list adventure you’ll never forget! Feel like a kid again driving a go-cart for the water. Don’t have enough time to spend 3 hours with us, we also offer a 1-hour tour that is a full open water adventure, that’s still a blast!

This was amazing! A perfect mix of historical tour (saw the Amistad ship from the movie and the recreation of the Mayflower), relaxing lazy river exploration and speed boating: speeding out over open water and doing high speed donuts in the bay. Tons of fun, would definitely do again. Highlights included going under the Mystic Drawbridge as it opened and seeing the sunset behind the lighthouse from the water.
5 of us went including my 10yo daughter who had a fear of deep water--Captain Rob was great with her, keeping her entertained and not afraid. In 3 hours went to 3 states (RI, CT & NY) by water, and Rob was accommodating, informative and made 3 hours feel like 30 minutes. Everybody had a great time, highly recommend it!

Thank you for this great review and happy to see you remember some of the history. It's nice when people are able to separate the 2 parts of our tour, thats what makes it such an awesome adventure. We pride ourselves on helping people get over their fear of the water. I especially enjoy getting young kids out there to experience the water. I hope we were able to help your daughter's fears. I'm sure she had the time of her life. Thank you for submitting this review, we hope to see you again, stay well :)
Thanks,
Rob

Took my wife for our 10 year anniversary, and it was so much fun! You need to take seriously the stipulation that you arrive 40 minutes early, the dude wasn't joking! The tour guide was a little abrasive at first, since water safety is to be taken very seriously, but once we got out on the water he proved to be an informative and fun tour guide. You master the boat in a matter of minutes: these little crafts are very easy to drive and hard to flip over. I definitely recommend it for people who love adventures, and aren't afraid to get your feet a little wet!

Thank you for thinking of us for your anniversary, glad you had a great time. I apologize if you thought I was a bit abrasive, that was not my intent. Our check in process is so important and I can only image someone was late to this tour and interrupted our safety orientation, when this happens I do get a little frustrated. I can not stop the clock, we must leave off the dock on time so you get to experience the entire adventure. Once we get out there we have a great time and a lot of laughs! Thank you for your recommendation and I hope to see you again one day, stay well.
Thanks,
Rob

Loved every second of it! Haven't experienced anything like this before where you can take control of the mini boat yourself! Definitely recommend if you're in mystic or the area. Whatever you do though, do NOT be late. When he says 30 min before your reservation he actually means 40 min before your reservation.

I was not able to attend on the scheduled date, due to a health-related emergency. I called before my appointment to explain my situation and requested to do the 3hour tour the following day, in which there were many slots available. The owner Rob however was very unpleasant and unprofessional. He wanted to upcharge for an additional $100 and was very dismissive.

I apologize that you do not agree with my policies and I am sorry to hear that your medical emergency was an allergic reaction in your eye. You were cancelling for this emergency 2 hours before your tour but you were well enough to know you could make it for the following evening. I may have come off as unprofessional to you however I repeatedly explained I did not have time to discuss the matter at that time as I had customers seated and ready for their tour. I tried to contact you after my tour and you did not return my calls. I am a fair business owner and I have rescheduled many tours as long as they are within our policy window which is 48 hours. There were only 4 seats available at the time that following evening and I offered it to you for $100 to compensate me for the $200 loss I would take by doing you this favor. The 48 hour policy is to give other customers the opportunity to book with a 1 hour cut off notice. We are typically fully booked every weekend and I have to turn many customers away. We have extremely limited seating and a short season. I'm sorry this awesome adventure did not work out for you as it has for many others, stay well.

We had so much fun last year by ourselves we decided to do it again but with our family this year. Everyone had a blast. We traveled about 20 miles in the 3 hours. Where else can you say you traveled to New York, Rhode Island and Connecticut all in 3 hours.
These boats are easy to handle. Rob does a great job with instructions and you have time to get used to the boats prior to embarking on your tour. You are able to switch drivers during the tour if you want. You can have a 1 hour or three hour tour. You can also have a private tour with a group of eight. It is great family fun. Once you leave the dock it is a great activity for social distancing. Plan on getting sprayed a bit.
Rob is very knowledgeable about the area and will show you points of interest as you travel along.
The Mayflower is still in Mystic Seaport and you can have a tour around it and see the amazing restoration work that has been done. We saw it last September from these boats, a perspective not many have, and then we went to the Seaport and saw the Mayflower launched the next day.

Thank you so much for being repeat customers and making it a family adventure. Everyone is social distanced in their own personal boats. There is so much history to see in Mystic and I'm so happy you were able to see the Mayflower before it headed back to Plymouth Rock. Thank you for the review and maybe you will be triple timers one day.
Thanks again,
Rob

My husband and I had an amazing adventure when we cruised the Mystic area with Rob yesterday. He showed us how to navigate the 2 person pontoon boat with such expertise noting what to do and what not to do. He is so knowledgeable about the sea and of course the Mystic area. An excellent tour guide.
For anyone young or old (and we are senior citizens) who love the sea and love adventure, I would recommend this tour. Rob taught us in just a few minutes how to run and steer this little boat thru the Mystic River going under bridges and following his path along the buoys .He finished his tour with everyone cruising out in the open seas teaching us tricks we could do with this small boat. What fun we had. Choppy seas make it even more fun. We have talked to our friends and family and we will be doing this again.

We are locals in Mystic who did the Mystic Boat Adventures as part of our 2020 Staycation. This was a fun way to experience the Mystic River from a different perspective than we are used to. The boats are fun and easy to operate, and we do not own a boat. Rob the owner an tour guide was great explaining how to operate and gave good descriptions of the destinations along the river. He encouraged all the 5 boats to do figure 8’s and doughnuts while riding the boats during free time. Definitely worth trying as part of your Mystic vacation.

We found Mystic Boat Adventures on Facebook and immediately booked our slot. Robert is a stickler for the rules but there is a specific reason behind it. The 3 hour sunset evening tour leaves on time to make it through two bridges to get to Mystic Seaport where the historic tall ships are located. Along the way Robert will give you additional instructions on how to get the most fun out of these little pontoon speed boats as well as information about the history of Mystic and some of the surrounding areas. It is nice leisurely ride up and down the river with opportunities to have fun on the water. Toward the end of the trip, Robert guides the group out in the Sound to watch the sunset, have a last bit of fun with the boats and then back to the dock. Overall, get there on time or earlier, listen to the directions, sit back and enjoy the ride.

We had a great time cruising the Mystic River and racing in the sound. We had the best time with the high speed engines, rolling waves and misting spray on our faces while fooling around doing donuts and figure eights. The guide was knowledgeable and helped keep us safe during the tour. Make sure you arrive 30 minutes or earlier to complete forms and training so you do not delay the tour for other participates.

We had a great experience with Mystic Boat Adventures. Instructions were clear and thorough with just the right amount of humor thrown in. The owner did an awesome job taking us through Mystic Seaport and offered a well balanced trip, learning about the history of the Seaport and its ships and also allowing time to “play” in open water. I’d highly recommend Mystic Boat Adventures!

I am not sure as we went on the 3 hour tour. I am going to guess no though based on how long it took us to get there and back.

I don’t see a tour guide on any of the boats. How does that work? Where is he/she?

The guide is the owner and drives the lead boat. He's the one taking most of the pictures. His name is Rob.
