Brilliant retreat
Dec 2021 • Friends
We went there in June for a 4 nights retreat which was fab and I would most certainly return for.
The garden is stunning, the gang of ladies pummelling you with various herbs and oils super friendly and efficient.
It is a Ayurvedic Spa so food can come across as basic (basically vegan) and is meant to contain limited ingredients which you eat slowly but they are keen for you not to go hungry so will give you more if you so need. I loved their breakfast and the food happened to be the kind I eat anyhow (minus cake and chocolate). For non retreat followers, there’s apparently a gastro type pub in the village.
In house you get a large choice of herbal teas, and you can even have coffee which was a relief.
The treatments are absolutely great. You leave feeling better, with a calm belly and soft skin and a quieter mind.
I can imagine that in colder weather it can get tricky if you plan to lounge on recliners. If you plan to rest, do some yoga and gather your thoughts, iI cannot think of a better place.

Not a relaxing experience
Nov 2021 • Friends
Limited facilities for the number of guests, the steam room was out of order so only left the pool and sauna both of which were too small for the amount of people trying to use them. Seating area wasn’t relaxing as not enough places to sit. Lunch was basic and had to sit at a table with other guests and serve ourselves so felt awkward.

Needs more attention to detail
Oct 2021 • Friends
Condensation unit in relaxing area very noisy, also it’s attached to the sauna so when you’re in the sauna it vibrates and is also noisy.
Swimming pool needs tiding
Condensation on windows, so can’t see outside
Outside needs attending, just tiding and sweeping up would make a huge difference
Lunch very basic cabbage, chickpea curry, boiled rice, apple with oats and sultanas. Not very tasty
When we were there, we found nowhere to have peace and quiet 🤫 there’s only two potential rooms one a waiting room for treatments and the other attached to swimming pool area, echoey.

Peaceful retreat, the kitchen need to try harder to provide good food, not much to do.

I went for the 2-9 experience, pretty outside and peaceful and as we were the first it was great to have the pool to ourselves and the steam and sauna which are small.
Unfortunately there where about 16 of us in the end and it was awkward to keep to the two people to a steam/sauna room for good COVID practice - you were constantly queuing.
Someone brought their man along and this was awkward. Also there is only one dry changing area with a door, everyone else changes in the shower room.
Please please please is it so hard to cook good food for the price of the present of a spa day I had an evening meal of tasteless dhal, over cooked grey broccoli and fennel rice - and the fruit bowl was insulting.
I would not go again as there is not enough to do if the weather is not warm.

Needs attention
Sep 2021
A slightly disappointing visit. Our massage was cancelled due to staffing issues, something we were really looking forward to.
The pool and sauna were very enjoyable, although we could not get the steam room to switch on. The indoor relaxing areas were very nice although some of the windows were steamed up with condensation and some of the paintwork needed re doing
The gardens were very pretty and peaceful however a little TLC would not go amiss. There were leaves over the corner seating area, and cobwebs around the window.
Potentially a lovely place, in a great location, but one that is a little tired and needs attention.

Lovely spa in beautiful surroundings

I went here for a spa day with a friend. The massage was very good, the pool was lovely and warm and the staff were really friendly. As there was only 2 of us, we had to share a table at lunch with other guests, and there wasn't a huge amount of food, but a very enjoyable day!

Relaxing
Aug 2021
Set in beautiful surroundings and in a very peaceful location, we had a fabulous stay here. Its quite tricky to find and were grateful to have Sat Nav.
We were given a very warm welcome and found our room to be comfortable and spacious. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a hairdryer.
We did not use the spa facilities but had a good look around and I'd wished I'd booked some treatments.
Breakfast was continental style, plentiful and delivered in a hamper outside our room.
I chose this hotel purely as a stop over and it ticked all my boxes.
Canterbury is a short drive away as is Margate.
There were 2 local pubs nearby but we didn't get chance to visit them.

Not worth the cost
Jun 2021 • Friends
We stayed overnight in a very basic room which was hot and stuffy despite opening windows and the door. The rooms are big enough to allow a decent fan to be a permanent fixture. Overall the room was clean but decorations need attention. The whole place is tired and exterior walk from car park to our room very tatty, insulation hanging down and a general feeling of not being looked after or clean,

Breakfast delivered to our room was tasty and enjoyable apart from the juice which was a cheap long life type.

We did have one treatment which was lovely but I would not return again as experience not worth the money

Very Overpriced for Rooms which are in almost portacabins!
Jul 2021
Very overpriced for facilities provided. Breakfast is still served to the room due to Covid although other hotels have their dining rooms open. Breakfast consisted of a choice of two items plus juice. Shower room very dark and being a spa you would expect some nice toiletries in the room - no luck. Also when retuning to the room late evening there was no exterior lighting along the decking path to our room - the furthest from the car park. This decking was on the edge of a large pond with no rail and as said no lighting - very dangerous. The staff, when seen were efficient and friendly.

Beautiful surroundings but not the best value for money
Jun 2021
I was gifted the Relax Spa Day Package which at £150 included a full body massage, facial and foot massage plus lunch.

The grounds of the retreat are absolutely stunning, helped by incredible weather. It's so so peaceful with many many places to rest and recharge.

Unfortunately though that was almost all there was to do. My full body massage only lasted half an hour, and whilst pleasant it felt like I just had oil applied to my body rather than any massage as such. The facial and foot massage was actually combined, I think the foot massage was around 10 minutes and happened in the middle of the facial treatment. I wasn't asked any questions about my skin, or had any idea of what she was applying so again was pleasant enough but nothing to rave about.

The pool was really warm which was great but the whole place was quite tired, the treatment rooms especially. Lots of flies, some in the pool. I didn't use the sauna or steam so can't comment on those.

Lunch was lentil curry which was very tasty and a bowl of fruit. It was delivered covered in cling film which didn't make it feel as fresh as I would of liked. They did have a really nice range of teas and coffee on tap all day.

If I needed somewhere to stay in the summer to totally switch off I would come here simply to sit outside, so I would recommend a basic stay.

But personally £150 for a little over an hour of treatments and a basic lunch is just not good value for money for me. I didn't get any real sense that I was experiencing 'Ayurveda' treatments either. Like another reviewer on here I think I would prefer more bells and whistles from my spa experience, as I didn't leave feeling like I had a luxurious experience.
