My husband and I went to Real Art Ways in Hartford today to see an exhibit that was to be shown from 2-9. When we arrived, we were told that the exhibit was taken down this morning. We told the girl at the desk that the website clearly stated that it was on the calendar and her response to us... More

This theater shows excellent movies, often foreign movies, that are not shown in regular theaters because they are too "intellectual" for the enjoyment of the general public! A very refreshing experience. And their sound system is the only one that enable people with some hearing problems to understand the sound track but best is that most movies are sub-titled.

Went here for a movie, nice to be able to have wine or beer during the movie. We will probably return.

We live about a half hour away in Massachusetts, yet come here frequently because "RAW" offers cultural experiences not available anywhere else for miles around. We come mostly for film (indie movies and classes), but special events are creative and fun.

Ok, it's like this place has creative pixie dust sprinkling. I can go for something or nothing but when I leave I'm charged with ideas, impressions, just want to go do something artful. I can sit and enjoy the atmosphere; browse the creations; quench my thirst with a tasty potation.. or not; dance to my hearts' content (when the band's... More

If you are in the market for independent, foreign, or just quirky little films, this is the place to be. I love almost everything I have seen here and the ones I didn't love I appreciated for their unique view of the world. My favorite events here are the annual screenings of the Oscar nominated shorts. It's so nice to... More

Real Art Ways is tucked away in the back of an old factory building on a side street in Hartford. Once inside there are comfortable spaces to lounge in and art exhibits to stroll through in addition to an impressive and fascinating line up of Indie movies you won't find in too many other places. The concession stand sells a... More

From RAW's indie film offerings to their art exhibits, this place is a joy to frequent in Hartford. There are many activities to participate in at night and you won't be disappointed with the offerings. Becoming a member of RAW allows you to pay $5 for films instead of their regular rate of $11.

Big fan of RAW, especially the quality independent films. The Annual Oscar Short Films are a fun tradition and a great night out. The neighborhood is a little hinky, but it's worth the trip. Movies....and they have wine!

In an old factory/ warehouse building, tucked away off the beaten path, you would not likely stumble on RAW but if a friend tells you about it, you are glad to know! There is always a new exhibition arriving in the gallery areas. The films that come here are not your run of the mill blockbusters, bur foreign award winners,... More
