Not much to see - however the view of the Sound is decent and the grounds of the college are nice. At the time we visited, the area was a fly-way for Monarch butterflies making their annual migration.

This is a beautiful place. Worth a nice 3 hour afternoon visit looking out at the Thames River and Long Island Sound!

Went out to Avery Point, located on the UConn Campus to watch the sunset on a beautiful evening. We use to come out here when we lived here 33 years ago. On the weekends parking was free and not crowded at all. We walked around the paths looking at all the art work displayed and sat out on the rocks overlooking the sound watching the ships and ferry's go by until the sunset. We walked down to the lighthouse but you are not allowed to go inside. If you're looking for a relaxing evening that costs nothing, then this is the place to experience it all with the family or someone special.

A must-see! We were lucky that we saw this on a gorgeous sunny day. The lighthouse really stands out against the deep blue water of the Atlantic. Since the lighthouse is on the Marine sciences campus of UConn, you can also walk around the campus and visit places like the art gallery at the Bradford House, a beautiful Manor. Definitely recommend for the views!
