We moved into Greenwich in the early 1990s when Greenwich Avenue had a Woolworths and many Mom&Pop stores. Over the years, these sort of establishments have disappeared, being replaced by many locally-owned boutiques as well as global luxury brands. While not Rodeo Drive or Worth Avenue, it is awfully close. Still worth window shopping on a brisk autumn afternoon with... More

Lived there for 20 years and it had a quaintness with small town appeal. Now only high end stores exist with the exception of CVS and some nail salons. One restaurant which is still there and always fun is Meli Melo, a great French creperie. Unless you're ready to pay super high prices in the designer stores, browse and enjoy... More

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Whether you're looking for a cheap store or a super expensive store, you'll definitely buy something during your time on the ave. Even if you don't buy anything it's great to walk up and down the ave. Even the food places are wonderful! However, parking is horrendous. If you can find a spot, consider yourself lucky.

We enjoyed our walk along the avenue. Shops are all high end and very expensive, so we didn't buy anything and didn't even go into many places. One of the main attractions seemed to be to eat, and there were some charming cafe places. Parking was difficult and require change for the meters. Overall I am glad for the experience... More

My wife and I recently visited and walked both sides of the Avenue from top to bottom and Back. Woolworths is gone and in its place is Saks Fifth Avenue. Many old time shops are now replaced by hi end glitz. The hardware and gun shop are gone. The police are still friendly and control the traffic. They still wear... More

You don't see many streets like this so take advantage and enjoy a nice walk with nice shops, cafe's, eateries and the like.

This is one of the more attractive shopping areas in Connecticut. During shopping and dining hours there are typically lots of folks walking up and down the street. Stores tend to be high end. Restaurants are high quality and some are quite moderate in price. For coffee check out CFCF, Starbucks and Aux Delices.

I have lived in Greenwich since 1997, and have found that over the years, "The Avenue" has been taken over by expensive stores where only those with high income can shop. Even the beautiful historical and landmark building that was once the US Post Office has been turned into Renovation Hardware. It has become in my observation, an avenue that... More

This is anice area to wander around and seek out bargains - good luck. Very busy at weekends and mid summer. You can wander to your hearts content in this area.
