This is anice area to wander around and seek out bargains - good luck. Very busy at weekends and mid summer. You can wander to your hearts content in this area.

I have lived in Greenwich since 1997, and have found that over the years, "The Avenue" has been taken over by expensive stores where only those with high income can shop. Even the beautiful historical and landmark building that was once the US Post Office has been turned into Renovation Hardware. It has become in my observation, an avenue that... More

If you live and shop in a larger town or if there is a shopping mall in your smaller town, then Greenwich Avenue will hold absolutely no charm for you. Why has Trip Advisor designated this stretch of hardscape an attraction? Who would waste his time thinking this is cool? The usual suspects---women's apparel shops, jewelers, and pub-style eateries abound.... More

Get you favorite designer brands of clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, home, etc. all discounted at great rates. Try to go on the first day and plan ahead. Bring water and your walking shoes. If you like Fifth Avenue you will love Greenwich Avenue. It is the 5th Avenue of Greenwich, CT Be sure to bring your platinum credit cards. Since this is July, there are many sales going on. Be sure to stop by for Sidewalk Sales Days. There is always a bargain to be found.

If you're not a resident of Greenwich, CT, don't plan to visit there on a weekend because they really don't want you. We tried to take the ferry to Great Captain's Island and was told that passes are not sold to non-residents on the weekend (unless you're over 65)! You can keep Greenwich. There are too many other places in... More

Lots of shopping choices, particularly for China and upscale home decor. Parking is a nightmare even at 9:30 in the morning on a weekday.

While parking is awful, walking the Ave is a great outing whether you are looking to buy or just window shop. And there are also a lot of places to get a bite to eat.

I may sound dated but almost all of the wonderful small shops are gone replaced by high end, very expensive stores staffed mostly by not so friendly or helpful sales people. There are some nice eateries along the avenue though.
