Pleasant trails, but a challenge to find
Jun 2020
One can go for a nice walk in the woods on a few trails (poorly marked), and from time to time step out to a view of the river or marsh, and in the distance glimpse Long Island Sound. We walked about 1.5 miles total. We followed directions to the 121 Mansfield Grove Rd stated entrance address here on Trip Advisor, but alas no signs or any indication of an entrance. I can't recommend using that address. The "Getting Here" official website directions are from East Haven center, so not much help if you aren't coming from there. We found a framed map at the Shoreline Greenway Trail parking area on Mansfield Grove Rd (it too was poorly signed, as a theme of our trip is starting to develop here) and it indicated an entrance on Brown Rd off Short Beach Rd, but again no signs at the end of Brown Rd. (Another reviewer thinks locals take signs down to discourage visitors.) We found the small parking area for the entrance on Short Beach Rd, approximately half way between Mansfield Grove Rd and Brown Rd. Don't count on finding a rest room though the official website indicates "seasonal facilities". We saw none.

Good luck finding it

Looked for about an hour and the directions from the state website and Google run you in circles. Found the marina which is gated and requires a card key to enter. Locals very unfriendly when asking for directions, one of my friends said they regularly take down the park signs to keep outsiders away. Needless to say if you cant find it you cant rate it.

Small, overlooked park
Oct 2019
This lovely park seems to be frequently forgotten, as it's fairly quiet despite its beauty. It has a small parking lot and a few trails of varying challenge levels that offer pretty views of the river and which run along the Long Island Sound. If you're lucky, you can catch views of several types of birds. I'd recommend bringing a nice lunch here.

Nice trails!

Limited parking area, several nice trails through the woods with different views of the marsh and Farm River. Nice place to take a leashed dog for a walk.

Wonderful find in East Haven

This is a small but beautiful and varied state park. It recently redid the trails in the front portion and they are wonderful. You can continue on and get all the way to the water and a marsh. The trail is well-marked. And not very busy at all.

Beautiful shorline park.
May 2016 • Couples
This is a beautiful shoreline park with great views of marshland, wetlands, rocky shores, and beautiful vistas. The hiking trails are well maintained and there is a self-guided trail map that is available which describes various points of interest as well as the flora and fauna of the park.

The parking lot for the park was a bit tricky to find - we passed the entrance twice before we found it. Just look for the driveway next door to house with the manatee mailbox.
