Both sneaker and hiking boot hiking available. Good meadow trails for casual hiker and bird watcher and the woods have well marked trails that offer some challenge. No facilities in the park so bring water .Follow the orange trails to the edge of Candlewood for...More

Bear Mountain offers some nice hiking, is dog friendly, and in some spots offers nice views of Candlewood Lake. Trails are fairly well kept, at times a bit rocky and hilly. Rarely too crowded, which is nice for mostly peaceful walking. Also seems to attract...More

Not just a walk in the woods. Nearly a hike and the trail can at times become craggy. Remain hydrated and carry snacks. Great place to enjoy the hills.

At the entrance you can pick up a map of the trails. We followed the trail to the "peak" and were expecting a grand view. Not so much! I wouldn't say there were views to be seen anywhere. A decent area to hike, but don't...More

Just an easy, get our with friends or family type of walk or hike. It tends to get buggy in May but so does any other woodsy environment at this time.

My wife and I enjoyed a hike here before heading back home to Pennsylvania. The trails were clearly defined and easy to negotiate. The best part was that it wasn't all flat terrain. There was a bit of climbing and hiking involved throughout these trails....More

Nice community park through the woods and down to the water. Trails are well maintained and they include meadows, lake access, and a bit of up and down to make you feel like you are actually on a "hike" rather than a casual walk. Despite...More

A beautiful setting. Not for the novice hiker. A rocky terrain. Parking on the street at the end of a residential road.

October is a great time to try out these hikes. Lots of trail with easy loops and harder loops. Well maintained and close to populated areas just in case.

People do hike there year round, just be prepared for muddy paths and trails in the winter. Bear Mountain is a park set aside just for walking/hiking. In the winter there are views of Candlewood lake, but otherwise no other... More
