If you are passing through town or have lived here a long time. It is a great way to spend your Sunday Afternoon. The society gives you a snapshot in time of the wonderful history of Cheshire. They host some amazing speakers and events all through the year. I highly recommend that you visit this wonderful gem in Cheshire.

We live in Cheshire and love this place! When our boys were small we attended the myriad of free events geared toward kids, including the annual gingerbread house making event in December. As they grew, we attended some of their monthly evening programs where speakers present on Cheshire's history concerning everything from early transportation (trains) to Native American artifacts to local families to architecture to a myriad of historical events. Later, both boys chose the Historical Society as the beneficiaries their Eagle Scout projects. What a supportive and great group of people! We were so happy with how they mentored the boys. Later the whole family became more involved with the Society. We sometimes volunteer and sometimes just visit and love to be there! The Cheshire Historical Society is open on Sunday afternoons and they are more than happy to give you a free tour of the collections and building or just let you wander and enjoy the building. There is a very pleasant garden in the back with a bench. Great place to sit and relax! They have a library of reference materials and welcome researchers. If you have research questions, they knock themselves out trying to assist you in finding the answers. There are special programs throughout the year such as trolley and bus tours and teas and an October Spirits Alive cemetery tour. We are fortunate to have such an a give local historical society!

We live in Cheshire and we have had a great experience at the historical society. My daughters have enjoyed presentations, crafts and other events. The annual Spirit's Alive Cemetery tour is excellent!
