Not what I expected
Apr 2019
I found Imagination to be my least favorite place to take our grandson. Not alot of interactive things and at 3 1/2 he found it very boring and lost interest fast.

This is a great hands-on experience for kids. Great for a rainy afternoon. Have been to the facility on numerous occasions.

fun place

The kids loved it and had a great time. I think they charge adults too much, we had 4 adults (parents and grandparents) so was expensive.

A fun place!

'Twas the week after new year celebrations and a rainy day too! We thought of exploring a place we had never visited and good old FB suggested this as a suitable place.

Laden with coats and umbrellas, we reached there. There are 2 floors packed with interesting and scientific play things from kids from ages 2 to 8.
There is a produce section complete with a cash register(stacked with fake notes), a pretty kitchen, a beautiful sand box on which animals and birds are projected giving it an illusion of watching a safari from the top, a race track that kids can build with magnets stuck to the wall and an extra large scrabble board with magnetic alphabet squares. This is the 1st level.

The 2nd level has informational and scientific things to explore. There is a map of the world, some information about different cultures, a little dress up area packed with clothes of different cultures, some stunning kaleidoscopes, a water play area(our 6 year old spent a couple of hours there!), a spacious art area and a construction area where teen volunteers help kids make their own masterpiece.

The level 3 is a small theatre for play.
This is a great screen-free way to spend winters or rainy days here. There is an outdoor play area with wooden play structures. We will return on a sunny day to explore them.

The cost per head is $10. Many local libraries provide reduced admission coupons. We can use our library card number to book them and print them at home. We got ours from the Cora J. Belden Library website and bought our tickets at the museum front desk for $5 per head.

As long as your kids are 2nd grade and under they'll enjoy themselves, but 10 and up mine didn't rave... Didn't stay long either.

Fun place for kids.

We took our 2 young boys here for some fun. This place is cute for kids but a lil pricey. $10 each including our 1 yr old. Other similar places in ct have a cheaper admission and under 3 free. Overall it was a good experience. There are a variety of things for kids 2 do and kept both our 1 and 4 yr old entertained for a few hrs. The day we were there they had several stations of things 2 do like make slime, build a cardboard car, build circuits, make paper airplanes and we thought that was a nice touch providing enrichment 2 guests. There are many different type of things 2 do in the museum n all hands on.

Fun for Ages 3 and 6!
Dec 2017 • Family
This was a Great Indoor Activity on a Cold Day! (Tho we did notice a Fun Looking Outdoor Area for the future.) My two Grandchildren (ages 3 and 6) were Happy for over 2 hours and would have even stayed longer. Their Highlights included a Barn Area with a cow to milk and very life-like stuffed chickens with eggs and baby chicks And a Kitchen area on the 1st Floor, as well as a "Pulley Drawing Table". On the 2nd Floor they Loved the few Live Animals, Water Fun Area, Wood Building Area, Computer Area And Painting/Craft Room.

Great experience for pre school children

We took our 4 year old twin boy grandchildren to the Imagine Nation and they had a great time. There are 2 1/2 floors of activities for them to explore. These were all hands on, from painting, to building with wood, to petting small reptiles. I could go on and on. We all had a great time. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

good for little kids

Its a good place to go but you can get easily over whelmed at the amount of kids that will show up to a specific event. Try and go on off days if you want quality time together.

Thank you for your review! We are usually pretty busy during the summer due to a higher volume of field trips. If you'd like to come during a quieter time, we recommend trying another visit in late September or during the month of October.

Fun and ingenious

The six year old of my family has been going to Imagine Nation since she was two, exploring all the things they have. My personal favorites are the reptile room where we got to pet snakes and lizards and the giant bubble maker that made a bubble around you. It was always fun when we went and I have been impressed many times. The staff was really nice except this one lady at the front desk when we got our membership card.
