Peaceful Walk
Jun 2020 • Solo
I was out for my daily walk and decided to stop in to relive childhood memories. As a little boy I always remembered visiting the shrine on Easter. My parents would bring us every year. It was very serene. A peaceful walk with plenty of benches to sit under the trees and enjoy some shade. As I walked around and looked at the sights it brought back great memories. There were plenty of places to light a candle and say a prayer or two. No festival this year but always time to say a prayer. There is no fee associated with your visit just be respectful to others who may be visiting.

Small shrine area with a couple of interesting landscape/sculptural pieces. If you are travelling on Park Ave it is wroth a stop but not a detour

Visited in the fall and we missed the italian festival. The garden is really nice and looks like a park with many different altars and places to meditate and pray. The church is quite charming and people were extremely friendly and inviting.

St. Margaret’s Shrine

We went to St. Margaret’s to the Italian Festival (St. Anthony’s) and was so intrigued with the beautiful shrines, flowers and water fountains, we decided to walk the grounds. The grounds are extensive and beautifully maintained. A real old world feel. Absolutely loved the place!

When you drive past the Shrine on Park Avenue you will hardly notice it. To really appreciate it, you need to go around back, park and get out and walk around. The place is huge! It has a very definite old-world feel. You really pick up on the love and devotion of the people who attend the chapel and who have built this remarkable shrine. It is a wonderful place to walk and reflect. AND THEN: each year in mid summer they have a fund raising Carnival. There are rides and such for the kids, of course, but the home cooked food served by the parishioners is especially good. The festival brings the place to life with youngsters and creates a truly remarkable atmosphere of young and old all having a good time at a very special location. A wonderful event to enjoy!

If you want to go somewhere for a reflection especially now thru Christmas, this shrine is the place to be. It's so beautiful even in the winter. Also, very peaceful where you can just be alone and think and reflect. You always feel so good when your there. A very special and most holy place right here in Bridgeport Ct.

Beautiful grounds - took wonderful pics of my daughter with her friend, plus the girls were able to enjoy the rides for an added benefit.

Almost forgot my favorite part, which was the yummy pizza fritter!

Worth visiting any day for pics on the grounds. Truly...

A great place to walk and look at the many statues. The peacefulness is special for reflecting and meditating. In June for the feast of St. Anthony the celebration draws large crowds for entertainment and delicious Italian food and treats.
