I rode up the Rollins Pass Road to Yankee Doodle Lake yesterday. That's a couple turns below the tunnel that is closed. The road was easy four wheeling. Probably a strong truck with 2 wheel drive could make it. The problem wasn't the technicality of the driving but rather the condition of the road. The road was in horrid shape,... More

We took our Lincoln Navigator on this trail. It was fun and a little nerve racking. Some parts were just down right scary. We got passed by road bikers some and when we slowly and finally made it to the top it started raining. The weather changed so suddenly. The trails were beautiful and the scenery just glorious! Glad we... More

In the welcome center is a book of trails for this area that is worth every penny of the $25 if you are a hiker. It unlocks the mysteries of missing signs, unexpected cross roads, and includes GPS coordinates for everything. The road up is a tough one for passengers without something to hold onto. The views are spectacular. Try... More

We were visiting Nederland and this hike was a favorite of my parents from the 70's so we did it, well we kind of did it. We had a rented sedan and made it up somewhat but had to stop because of the rocky terrain (my parents said much has changed from the 70's), we didn't get close to the... More

My wife and I took our two kids up the Rollins / Corona Pass on four wheelers. We encountered a number of trucks and cars, but we are still not sure how some of the cars made it up and back. The trail is very bumpy most of the way up, but the trail is wide enough for vehicles. The... More

This is a rough ride up, with road following what was once an old railroad line, but worth it if your vehicle can take it. If you are a train or history buff, stop by the visitor center in town and pick up a brochure which explains the early use and sites you will come across. Some stretches of the... More

We drove up the from the west side at Winter Park. You will need a 4 wheel drive or high clearance vehicle as this road is not for street cars. It took 1.5 hours to go 15 miles and not topping 15MPH on this road. The views are amazing from this old railroad path from 1904 and it makes you... More

We thought we would try to drive to Yankee doodle lake in a 2015 Ford Explorer. We made it up the rough and rocky road about 4 miles before turning around. We could have kept going, but risk of damage was too high. Great views. Single lane in many places. Ideal for jeeps and motorcycles. June 21, 2015.

The drive is worth it, but its bumpy and not for those that get carsick. We hiked from near the top down to a couple of lakes - quiet and peaceful. Weather moves in fast, so watch the sky and take rain/temp precautions. Sedans, stay at home. Unless they are rentals. :)

Very rough road for a 4 wheel drive. We rode the road with our RZR what a great time! We had friends with us, first time for them. Second time for me both times were great. This is a old rail road with old wooden bridges to view and tunnel.
