Grew up going to standley and I get the no boating but you can even walk in the water. It's a nice walk but walking next to a lake and not being able to go in it defeats the point of the walk. Also just got kicked out of clear creek by Anderson park the other day what is this place turning into

Bad Experience
Jun 2021 • Couples
We have been coming here for years, even back when you didn’t need a reservation and could water ski and swim. We didn’t pay $30 a night! Now you do! The sight is over grown so you are walking in 10 inches of grass and some of the weeds are 2 foot tall!

But it gets better. At 7:49 am on A Sunday morning we are woke up by the so called Rangers in their carts or whatever not but 5 feet from our motor home and then they start a generator! They tried to fix whatever it was and couldn’t so they left. And then came back! We asked what was so important that it couldn’t wait until at least 8 am and they said there is a dangerous situation in the sight next to us. What they did was move the railroad ties and stake them down! Wow that was important.

And the attitude they had was amazing. We don’t want to wait until it gets hot out.....well we didn’t want to start our generator and disturb our fellow campers. Will never come here again. It certainly isn’t worth $30!!!

This lake is was a few miles from my house and has eagles, prairie dogs and a gorgeous view of the Rockies! I could see this beautiful lake from my balcony in Candelas and visited often! I miss it the most from my days in the Mile High City!

Stanley now sucks. They have outlawed boating and even wading. New city regulations have ruined this lake.

TERRIBLE PARK RANGERS
Mar 2020 • Couples
After arriving for the first time there was nobody at the pay station, so we proceeded to enter the park to use the restroom and turn around to get out of the campgrounds. MIKE ZIEGLER was the worst park ranger I have EVER encountered. Rather than redirecting us out of the campgrounds to a FREE parking lot, Mike proceeded to write me a citation for failing to stop and drop money in a box by the pay station for camping. Not only did we accidentally enter the wrong area, but we got charged $105 for stopping at the restroom before turning around. DO NOT GO TO THIS PARK AND AVOID MIKE AT ALL COSTS.

This place is gorgeous, even in January. I cannot wait to visit again when the weather is nicer. Ample parking, decent amount of camping spot, boat launch, walking paths and breathtaking views.

Lovely open space but radioactive and has snakes
Dec 2019 • Couples
My husband and I used to regularly run our dogs in this lovely open space, until I read an article about dogs at that open space getting cancer in their paws and joints. My dog just died of cancer herself. I figured if the dogs are getting cancer we should probably stop going there. Unfortunately this lovely place is next to Rocky Flats hazardous waste site where the land around the site was remediated but not further out. In addition, there are many rattlesnakes that hang around at Dusk and Dawn and we have been unfortunate enough to see a few but luckily no one was hurt. I think we will be going elsewhere.

The Rangers are awful
Jun 2019
This is a beautiful place , but avoid it The Rangers are aggressive and can cause you problems when you are legitimately not at fault.

Get ready to dodge droppings
Jul 2019
This park has the potential to be great for hiking, but the geese and their droppings, as well as loud, obnoxious music from one of the boats made this an unpleasant experience for us. We had taken our dog to walk around the lake, but turned around after about 10 minutes. I will say that the playground area looked very nice.
