This is a thoroughly wonderful space and experience, and the two founders, Maria and Brendt, are a delight. Accomplished artists in their own right with long careers across many places, they have built this extraordinary place up to be one of the absolutely key experiences in town. They were so gracious and kind with their time, showing us around, from the beautiful main floor space to other areas, and projects in the works. They have completed an elevator for all three floors, and are currently building an ADA accessible bathroom in this gorgeous, historic building. The whole place is clearly such a deep labor of love. They're actively involved in the town and region with a variety of artistic and community projects. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

After attending an event there, I can say the Museum of Friends is truly a great spot to view art in Southern Colorado. An open inviting space managed by a great local couple. Definitely worth the visit!

Going to this museum was awesome it was so unique and I’ve never seen an art collection like it. It had very positive vibes and there were hundreds of unique art pieces by hundreds of different artists. My family and I checked this place out as a road trip pit stop and we all enjoyed it. I really recommend stopping by here if you’re ever passing through Walsenburg.

New favorite in Walsenburg! More immersive art experience in the vein of Cartopia or Meow Wolf than just typical museum. Hundreds of pieces in room after room upstairs in the permanent collection-- all with an interesting story held by owners Bredt & Maria. Stayed twice as long as planned, focusing on certain works that popped out, but feel like I could go back every time I'm in town and see something new. Definitely worth stopping in.

A Wonderful Art Experience. the Collection of art is from "real" people and truly diverse and wide ranging. Interesting and surprising on the main floor gallery, the second floor contains the most amazing and wide ranging collection of contemporary art that you could find anywhere. The Owner Brent shared his incredible story of this Collection. And our docent, Larry, was full of stories about certain pieces. This is truly a unique and a must stop through Colorado!

We try to find local spots that support and highlight artists. The Museum of Friends surpassed our expectations. If you are fortunate when you visit, Brendt Berger will be there and will tell you a story behind any one of the over 1500 creations on the walls. He and the museum are a specific reason to stop in Wallsenberg.

This is a cool little museum with a very eclectic collection from artists all over the country. Sculpture, water colors, oils, mostly contemporary. A museum guide will walk you through the collection and tell you about the various artists. It is free but please put something in the donation jar to keep this little treasure operating.

I was passing through town and got stuck in Walsenburg for a few hours because of a flat tire. I needed to kill some time and got incredibly lucky when I walked in. Everybody who worked there was incredibly friendly and nice. The bottom floor had some of the owner's paintings. She's a phenomenal painter. The upstairs of the museum had different types of art from the owners friends. The type of art varied from photography, oil and acrylic paintings, charcoal drawings, and different collage pieces. They managed to put quite a bit of art into a space and didn't make it looked tight or cramped. Overall, this museum is fantastic and I would recommend it to anybody who wants to see something unique and pretty cool. The staff is fantastic and the art is varied and interesting.

The entire museum is amazing! There is such a wide variety of art with special shows throught the year. The most recent exhibits "Better Angels/The Fire Fighters of September 11th, St. Paul's Chapel at Ground Zero and on the Second Floor: Historic Churches and Chapels of Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, as well as the Early Hispano Families of Huerfano County,"are beautiful and very informative.

This museum is a gem in a small town in Southern Colorado and well worth taking time to visit. It is a two-story building with several rooms on the second floor filled with a very wide-ranging art collection by numerous artists from around the United States.

Also, in the museum, is a gift shop containing an eclectic collection of mixed media items made by local artists for sale.

If your trip brings you near Walsenburg, Colorado I highly recommend a visit. For more information visit their website at Museum of Friends.org.

What a unexpected treasure in Walsenburg, Colorado! First, there is an amazing collection of art, including visiting shows on the ground floor and then the permanent collection upstairs (well, up elevator). If you are lucky enough to arrive when Maria (one of the founders) is there, TAKE HER TOUR! You will be glad you did. Allow plenty of time because she shares a wealth of information about the artists, the art, and how the various works landed at M of F. They also have a studio for art classes, a mural in the park across the street, and full list of programs bringing art lessons and appreciation to young and old alike, in this out-of-the-way county seat in Colorado. We love everything about Museum of Friends. We look forward to visiting often and to supporting this gem in downtown Walsenburg.
