As novice fly fishermen, my boyfriend (32m) and I (34f) started this float trip with zero skills. Our guide, Billy, took such good care of us, we left beaming. He taught us a few beginner techniques while somehow being attentive, upbeat, and chill at the same time. I was very impressed with his ability to keep up conversation and lesson tips while continuously working the oars and steering us clear of obstacles, ensuring we had the best location advantage. We plan on taking up our new hobby in Minnesota! I would absolutely recommend Minturn Anglers to fishermen of all skill levels, even zero 😊.

Mark at the fly shop was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in helping us select our float boat trip with Tim (our guide)! He helped us select flies and gear that was best suited for fishing the area rivers and tributaries.

Tim (our guide) was amazing, he was very patient in teaching us how to fly fish and how to read the water and what to look for when casting our flies. He put us on fish and we caught fish starting only a couple hundred feet from launching and continued hooking fish the entire length of our float trip on the Colorado River. There were probably 2-dozen other boats on the water, but only witnessed 1-other fish caught (a tribute to Tim's knowledge of the river). Truly an amazing experience and we plan on making a return visit soon.

I've fished with Minturn Anglers three times in the past year. Every guide has been exceptional and the fishing, and views, on the Colorado and Eagle rivers is unbeatable. Also one of the coolest fly shop locations you'll ever see. Highly recommended.

The guide did care if I caught fish. He took photos and videos. The evening after my half day wading trip I texted him. I was ignored. I called the shop a week later inquiring about the photos and videos. A man answered, I asked about the photos and videos and he said I would get them immediately. That was 2 days ago. I'm giving 2 stars because I spent a premium for this fishing experience and my simple requests for the captured photos and videos have been ignored and I interpreted that as lousy customer service. My advice is to not tip your guide until you get the photos and videos. What is ironic is that the last question in this review is "share photos". I would if my guide would send them to me.

We spent $395 for a half day wade trip to Drive 30 minutes away from Minturn to wade and fish behind a trailer park. I thought, maybe this is a secret ho year hole fishing spot and were going to catch a ton of fish.” We didn’t catch anything. Not one fish in 4 hours. Not a great experience, plus it didn’t smell good where we were at. Not exactly what I would call spending time in the great Colorado wilderness.

Our fishing guides Mark and John were top notch. No one in our group had ever been flyfishing, but our guides took the time to show us the correct techniques and had us catching trout in no time. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we will definitely book another trip the next time we return to Colorado.

Our guides, Ryan and Nick, were amazing. They always made sure our little girls, 7 and 9, were having fun, doing things right and learning. At the end of our two week trip in Vail, we all voted fly fishing as our favorite among many big activities and it was b/c of the guys and how prepared they were. We will be back - thanks Ryan and Nick!

Chase took my wife and I wade fishing on the Eagle. He was very patient and a pleasant companion. We are both experienced, but we had opportunities that were more than we could handle. The only limit to the number of fish we brought to hand were our own skills. Which Chase helped improve significantly.
An excellent and fun day on the water.
Kudos to Collin, who helped us select the perfect trip for our situation.

Our summer vacation spanned seven days in Vail! For decades we visit during winter and c the pandemic we opted for a summer vacation. A day of fly fishing as a new summer treat for ourselves. Our 2nd day we were warmly greeted at the Sonnenalp by the Minturn guide, Billy McMillan. There the Fish whisper stood by his boat in the Porte Cochere and the day was perfect. He is outstanding as a fishing guide, professional, a gentleman, warm, cautious and extremely attentive. We have high respect for what he does and if any one disagrees, they should come see us. Thank you we were kept safe and swift with fish on the first day.

These guy's are the best. There were 4 of us fishing so we had 2-guides (Thomas and Johnny). We fished the lower Eagle River and everyone caught fish. Rainbows, Browns and Cuttbows.

Only one of use had any real experience with fly fishing. The guides were patient and showed us several techniques for the perfect cast. One in out party had recently had knee surgery and while challenging, the guides help position him and made sure he caught fish.

I would recommend this outfitter above all others. Professional and personal.
