Hospitality, service & safety was of the highest quality. My original thought was that the price was high. BUT, the Shuttle service from door-to-door, equipment included [Helmet, snowmobile, pants, boots] basically anything you may have forgotten lol, was well worth the price!! PAUL, our tour guide was exceptional. He not only made sure we were fully informed of all of the safety protocols and hand signals, but also helped our experience with GREAT energy, smiles, laughs and a welcoming spirit. Me and my girlfriend will be bringing our ENTIRE family on the next trip to Colorado and we will be repeat customers with Vail BackCountry Tours !!

Thank You for an incredible experience

My first time snowmobiling, I have to admit I was a little anxious. The team, and in particular our guide Nathan Guild, did an AMAZING job teaching us how to drive and making sure I felt comfortable the entire time. It ended up being my favorite part of the entire trip: it was SO fun to drive, and the views were unbelievable (better than at the top of the ski mountain). I shared a machine with a friend, switching off driving, and did the 3 hour tour and thought it was the perfect combo/length for me. Nathan was truly the best guide ever - making sure I felt comfortable without slowing down the thrill-seekers of the group. If you have any anxiety about snowmobiling, he is your guy!! 10/10, cannot recommend more highly!!!

This was our group's first time snowmobiling, and we had a great time! Nathan was the perfect guide. He was very in tune with the entire group regardless of their riding style. Half our group wanted to do something more technical or go fast, while the rest of us wanted to chill a bit more. He was able to provide both types of riders with a great experience and keep everyone safe. He's also just such a great guy. Ask for Nathan and you won't be disappointed!

If you'd like to book a tour and spend more than half your time with the machines shut down, Vail Back Country is for you! We had originally booked a 3 hour tour, only to receive a call the night before that it would be a two hour tour, so we didn't have any time to switch to other tour provider.

We arrived for our tour, received our instructions, and then embarked on a pleasant 20 minute ride, at which point we were ushered to a Yurt to warm up and have coffee and cookies...for 20 minutes. Didn't need to warm up, or have sustenance at that point.

After getting back on the trail, we had several stops for pics (which is fine), but each one was accompanied by extensive pauses and dissertations by our guide. BTW, upon check-in, we were asked if we would like to put a 20% tip on our card, which I did (without thinking). If all in our group did the same, our guide's tip would have approached $1,000 for 2 hours. I'm all for tipping well, but that feels like an excessive ask.

High quality machines - too bad you don't spend more time riding them.

My family was in Vail visiting for a ski trip and we decided to take one day off the skis and hit the backcountry trails on snowmobiles with Vail Backcountry Tours. They are AMAZING!!! We chose them because they made everything super easy from start to finish. They picked us up, got us situated on some brand new machines, provided an AWESOME tour of the slopes and trails across from Vail Mountain and delivered us back home with everyone smiling. Greg was our guide and he is very safe and accommodating to all ability levels, knowledgable of the area you are riding in, a professional group photographer, and one of those guys that if you saw in town after your tour you would feel lucky to buy him a beer to say thanks for a GREAT day! Cannot wait for another group to come visit so we can take them on another snowmobiling adventure with Vail Backcountry Tours!!!!

My wife and I went with a couple friend of ours and there 2 children (11,6) initially our friend asked for 4 snowmobiles but we only needed 3 as my wife was going with me. Before the tour started they charged us 18% gratuity because they said it was a party of six, we also told the tour guide we would only need 3 snowmobiles. He never mentioned we would still get charged for 4. Even after my friend explained the situation they would not refund the difference.
Do yourself a favor if booking with more than 4 people make multiple reservations so you don't inquire that ridiculous 18% charge for gratuity REALLY??

We might have a different way of understanding the definition of robbery. Robbery is when someone takes something from you; however, in this case, you are referencing gratuity and a cancellation. The Guided Snowmobile Industry is a gratuity-based Industry supporting many families throughout the world. Just like any gratuity-based Industry; which includes restaurants, spas, hairdressers, etc.; 18% is considered a minimum and the industry standard is 20%. (However, a lot of people go out of their way to leave 25-40% in many cases). The same as all major restaurants, our company policy is a minimum of 18% for parties of 5 or more as well as a firm company policy for 48 hours advance notice for any cancellation. We hope you enjoyed your tour and your time with VBT and hope this leads you to a better understanding in gratuity-based industries.

I cannot express how magical this experience was from start to finish. Nathan Guild picked us up directly from our hotel in Vail and was an absolute gentleman. Once we picked the rest of group up from a meeting site, we drove in a limo style shuttle van. Top shelf from start to finish. The staff was all attentive once we arrived to the main snowmobile headquarters and was so genuine in wishing my wife and I happy 55th birthday!! I've ridden in several snowmobiles during my lifetime, however, these were by far top of the notch! Heated handlebars for the passengers seat complete with backrest, and heated driver grips along with touch adjusting buttons. After a well detailed safety and instructions meeting with Nathan, we began our journey into the winter wonderland of the Vail mountains. We were a group of 12 with Nathan and a guild in training bringing up the rear. I felt so safe as did my wife on the same vehicle. Safety was priority number 1 with this company. You could tell, this is not for the yahoos and drunks. If you wipe out, it could ruin everyone's trip waiting to pull your snowmobile out of the ravines. After a joyful ride, we made our way to the mountain top hut. A wonderful "Happy birthday " dessert and candles made our day!!! My wife wants to do it again and next time with friends and family.

Thank you for such a wonderful review! We're so happy to hear you and your wife had such a great time with us! We find that the pick-up/drop-off service lets you sit back, relax and just enjoy the day. Save all of that driving energy for the snowmobile ride, we say! It was our pleasure to help make your wife's birthday a memorable adventure. We can't wait to see you all again for another ride and more treats in the yurt!

For this being my third time on a snowmobile tour, going in I had somewhat of an idea of what to expect. Boy was my mind blown... right from the start, we are met with a big smile and an ambitious personality none other than Mark Boutin. After he picked us up from the parking lot, no more than 5 seconds in to the shuttle ride, this man who I have never met before in my life made it seem as if I have known him my entire life! Such a personable, happy guy who expresses his love for the outdoors, and has immense passion in his profession. We haven’t even gotten to the tour yet! To start the tour he gives an in depth, fun, yet serious explanation of the machine. Once he assures we have no questions, we are on our way. The beginning of the tour he acquired a feel for the skill level and comfort of our group. Safety being his number one priority, he determines the safest yet most adventurous and beautiful trails to take. He stops at points he knows like the back of his hand that are beautiful and lively. He gives us educational info on the types of wildlife in the area and the tracks they make so that we can define (on our tour) the types of wildlife that has crossed or been through that area. This trip was nothing short of amazing. Every trail we took warmed my heart and made the inner kid in me come alive. As a Floridian who has come out every spring to visit family for about 12 years straight now, No other trip like this has left me with such joy. For those who take the time to read this, and even if Mark were to read this. I want to thank him and advise anyone in the area or anyone taking a trip out there to choose Mark Boutin as your guide. He is the man and made this trip something special and something I will remember for life. I could go on and on about this trip and the amazing man who took us through the incredible backcountry. YOU ROCK MARK!

Great family activity for non-skiers! Tons of fun with a variety of trails and a solid 2 hours of riding. Nathan was an awesome guide who knows how to keep everyone safe and comes across as an expert.

Nathan picked us up promptly at the Westin Beavercreek and dropped us off after the tour, cost included in the tour so no extra fees here. They also offer flexibility on the dropoff in case you want to go somewhere else after the tour!

Boots and jackets included in the tour, goggles rent for $10 but all equipment is in great shape and the team helps to ensure everyone has the right stuff before takeoff.

Great job to the entire staff, will definitely return!

After having completed the reservation, the pickup time was on time, the registration went smoothly and so was the tutorial on operating the snowmobile. Our guide, Beau, was attentive all the time, a great host. All the gear provided by the tour company is in good working order. The trails are safe for first timers and the landscape is awesome. Don’t miss the opportunity to take this tour.
