Hiked up on a Sunday morning. Its 4 miles round trip to the falls, 1300 feet or so elevation gain. Fairly intense but not a killer. Beautiful scenery. Was perfect for the 3 hours or so that we had. Up top right by the falls there is some serious exposure (read: cliffs to fall off of) so keep kids close... More

We started this hike at 8 am on a Sunday in July and got a prime space at the trail head parking lot. You want to start early so you are hiking in the shade and on your own. No crowds at that hour. Half way up tthere is a beautifu field of wild flowers. Took us an hour and... More

It had been some years since I hiked above 8000 feet and was concerned after reading some of the reviews. The initial 40 minutes were difficult but once beyond, the climb got easier. Also, the views of the mountains, wild flowers and aspen groves were a great distraction. Saw many families with children below 10 years hiking. The falls themselves... More

For anyone other than experienced hikers I don't think I'd call this a 'moderate' trail. Over the first mile you climb 800+ feet, it slows down after that but it's a tough start. Took a little over 1.5 hours for our group(late 20s to early 30s) to reach the falls. Definitely come prepared with water and comfortable shoes. It was... More

This was a great hike!! I would say on the shorter side. If memory serves me right. The beginning was the hardest part. A must do:)

So glad we went for it. After reading the reviews we were very skeptical to go since we were with our 3 children, 7; 4 and 7 months. My husband and I are very athletic so I knew it would have not been a big deal for us but mostly for the kids. Since I had the ergo baby I... More

Who are you people who think this is moderate?? I am 40 yr old average mom. I used to work out but now mainly run after my 4 boys. I can tell you- this is HARD. It is steep in many places, you climb inside a rocky creek near the top for awhile, jump over rapid freezing streams, trek on... More

As "city slickers" we had never been hiking before so didn't really know what to expect, especially since some reviews said the hike was "strenuous" and others claimed it to be "moderate". The trail wasn't particularly crowded but we saw people in all levels of fitness, from ages 4 - 65 . . . even someone with a bum ankle.... More

Whoever rated this hike as 'moderate' needs to have his head examined! :D If you are not used to the altitude, expect to take frequent stops to catch your breath. And therefore, set aside plenty of time for the hike up. Once arrived - feast your eyes on the beautiful falls, so lovely! Beautiful place!
