NOT a local business, poor customer service...
Aug 2021
I reserved 5 bikes for 8 days through the EPIC online system. I prepaid all 5. When I arrived in Telluride, I was told that 2 of the bikes were not available in Telluride, and I had to pick them up at their Mountain Village facility. When I got there, they had no record of the reservation (prepaid...) and I spent an hour having them figure it out. We got the bikes and went on our way.... One of the bikes had a bent front rim. They replaced it, but over the next several days the front brake began to fail until I had complete brake failure when doing the Galloping Goose trail (downhill for 19 of the 23 miles...) In addition, the back brake on my 13 year old son's bike failed. When we took it in to the Mt Village store where it came from, we got "I can look at it, but I'm not a mechanic...) It too failed on the Goose. When I returned the bikes, I had limited time and returned all 5 to Telluride (where I had reserved them...) I explained to the manager why all 5 were being returned there, and that 2 had failed brakes. The next day I got a call from Josh at Mt Village, who asked where the bikes were. I explained that I returned all to Gondola Plaza. He proceeded to cut me off, lit into a string of expletives, and hung up on me. I called him back to explain, and he hung up again. Now, it says clearly on their website that one of the advantages of renting form them is the multiple locations, and that any equipment can be rented or returned from any of their outlets. Obviously this memo did't get to Josh. I have been to Telluride a number of times, and rented all sorts of gear. I have never had such poor equipment and such a bad customer experience. It turns out that Vail Corp has bought Telluride Sports. Now it all makes sense. I love the local vibe of Telluride. If I wanted the Vail experience, I would go to Vail. Shop local...

Horrific and Very Poor Communication
Jul 2021
My boys and I rented bikes yesterday morning from TS. I called the evening before (Friday) and asked the lady what time they opened and how all this worked. She just said book your rental online then show up at 9am. That was all she said to do. We did those steps and arrived at TS around 8:55am the next morning. We stood in line for a bit as had 4 people ahead of us. The girl came to us and said what is your reservation and cell #. I gave to her and she said we will text you in roughly 30 min to get equipment, etc. I told her if she could help us get earlier please do due to us having to catch a flight. So we were cramming this in. She then got an attitude and said that's up to you as having others ahead. I said ok just do what you need to do no problem. We finally got the text @ 945am to come get equipment. Once inside I asked the girl about trails, etc. She said "Oh you don't have your bike passes yet", I said no. She said then you have to get those. Again, ALL this could have been communicated when I called Friday evening and asked "How does all this work as new to this"? Didn't communicate the hours you can rent, passes, etc. So $435 later inc. passes, we got to ride 2 trails. VERY POOR COMMUNICATION especially when I asked and told the lady on phone.

One hour wait to rent skis
Dec 2019 • Solo
Walked in at 9:05, walked out at 10:05. Didn’t help to have a reservation either. They sent people to other stores, even. Been coming here 8 yrs, never seen the place so disorganized. Go elsewhere.

Very consistent in terrible customer service

We have rented here hundreds of time over the past 25 years. I can't believe it just continues to get worse. We usually rent ski and snowboard equipment in the Winter, today we tried mountain bikes. Same service as in the Winter, very terrible. The manager was yelling at both staff and customers, seemed way over stressed out for the renting of mountain bikes. Confusion within the shop was the worse that I have ever witnessed. Convenient location, good equipment, but be prepared for a miserable experience. .

Decent equipment but horrible customer service
Dec 2017 • Family
We rented skis and snowboards from Telluride Sports for our visit Dec 25-31, 2017. In all honesty, the staff was unfriendly, rude, impatient, spoke poorly of their colleagues, and somewhat incompetent. Christmas is going to be crazy at any ski resort and the staff should learn how to project a positive attitude, even if they have to fake it. The staff did not know how to properly enter our rental info into their computer (we had taken advantage of the free delivery service, which turned out to be a very bad decision given the numerous headaches it caused throughout the week) and did not know how to properly set one of our party’s bindings, which resulted in a really bad fall. Last, we rented demo packages and some of our party did not receive demo level snowboards. We have rented from Telluride Sports parent company for the last ten years at various ski resorts and have never had such poor service. There are a lot of other options for ski and snowboard rentals in Telluride. Check them out before renting from Telluride Sports. I received a survey from Telluride Sports immediately after our visit. I shared this same information with them, and have yet to hear a thing. They obviously do not care. Our visit to Telluride was wonderful and would highly recommend this resort, just not Telluride Sports at Gondola Plaza.

Hi Elizabeth, We're dreadfully sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant in-store experience at our Gondola Plaza location. We appreciate your honest feedback, and will work internally to learn from our mistakes. Please reach out to me directly at nfrerichs@vailresorts.com so we can communicate offline and I can make an effort to improve your overall Telluride Sports experience. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Nathan Frerichs

excellent job for a family of 4 without a clue

I want to thank Gary and his team for taking care of us while skiing in Telluride this past month. There was no snow and limited lifts open, yet they still were enthused, prompt, and very kind. Super kid-friendly staff. I appreciate their willingness to help us the day prior with fittings and keep our information in the system for a second day of fun. Recommended for the beginner family for sure. Location is excellent as well (bottom of the gondola). I know there are other mom-and-pop shops in the area, btu for the price and service, these guys are worth it. Great experience.

Great Place for a Day With the Family
Jul 2017 • Family
Went there with my son daughter in law, grandkids and friends to listen to of all things, a band from Louisiana. Things were quiet at Telluride Sports with the concert going on. Who else from Louisiana would go to Colorado to listen to a band from Louisiana. The weather was perfect, the band was great and so was the company. Got some great shots of the gondola traveling overhead.

Nice bikes and friendly staff

These guys really know their downhill bikes and they're helpful and honest. My wife's bike was too big for her and even after half an hour, they refunded the money in full. Clean and spacious store with tons of equipment. Can't go wrong.

Telluride Sports has Great Bikes to Rent and Gear to Purchase
May 2016 • Business
We rented bikes from Telluride Sports and had a great experience. The staff is very knowledgeable and has a great choice of Mountain Bikes to Rent. The bikes are great quality and there are a good amount of choices of trails to ride right from the shop. There is single track and also nice biking right on the valley floor for different levels of riders. The staff are friendly and explain the trails well. They have a few locations around town.
