The Moonlight Tour states ages 12 and up, the pace taken by our guide was more like that of a daily cross-country runner. She did stop often for very short speeches of interesting tidbits about the area and nature. My fitbit calculated over 50 flights of stairs and over 15,000 steps; I have done activities with similar stats but not... More

Have never snowshoed before! Saw the tour in the "happenings" page of the Steamboat Pilot and called that morning for a 10 to 12 walk. It was totally awesome with light snow falling and Karen stopping and telling us about the Aspens and animal tracks. Highly recommend this tour.

We had never snow shoed before and this was an amazing experience. Our "Naturalist" divulged more information about the area and history of Steamboat in 2 hours than an encyclopedia! From species of birds to formations of mountains to what you can do on a summer trip there, he educated us and convinced us to go back this summer! It... More

These guys do an awesome job educating us about nature. Every year I plan on taking the mushroom class. It is still on my bucket list.

If you are going to steamboat, yampatika is a place you should call. They are a non-profit organization that deals with education of the área natural resources! We did some trails with then and wow, I know some things I'd never thought to know, the real yampa valley! If you have kids or like nature, call then and book a... More

While visiting our adult children in Steamboat during Christmas, we wanted to try snowshoeing. We found Yampatika through Trip Advisor and could not have been more pleased. Morgan in the office was very responsive and helpful in arranging an appropriate excursion for our family of parents in their 60s and "kids" and their friends in their 20s. Karen, our very... More

I had never snowshoed before, so I figured a Yampatika tour with a naturalist would be a great way to start! I loved it so much I ended up renting snow shoes to take with me up on the mountain. I have knee and ankle issues, so skiing and snowboarding are out for me. I did the tour at Legacy... More

Yampatika offers and endless array of activities for Nature lovers. It provides fun, exploring tours for families, kids and curious visitors. My favorites are the Moonlight snowshoe tours, but also the snowshoe tours to the Uranium Mine or Emerald Mountain. Ski with Naturalist is awesome and also some of the indoors educational agenda items like the Backcountry Film Festival coming... More

So pleased with Yampatika! My sisters & I were visiting Fish Creek Falls and a nice young lady asked if we would like a free guided tour - well of course we were questioning the "free" and soon realized this is part of what this organization does. We had a wonderful guided walk up to the Falls and learned so... More

We did two of the snowshoe tours with Yampatika naturalists. The first was at the Legacy Ranch. It was an easy walk in the open fields around the ranch house. The second was on Howelsen Hill and was much more strenuous. You bought a lift ticket up to the starting point. The walk went higher and then came all the... More
