The Yampa River Core Trail is a seven mile, non-motorized multi-use trail that follows the meandering Yampa River from Dougherty Road through downtown Steamboat Springs to Bear River Park. Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches, and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town. Additionally, there are many parks and playgrounds and more miles of trail that can be accessed off of the Core Trail.

We rented bikes from Ski Haus Bike Rentals and had a lovely afternoon bike ride, enjoying sightings of the hot spings en route

Really well planned trail that can take you from the Mountain to downtown. Ride your bikes, skateboards, rollerblading or just walk. Plan an afternoon exploring all there is to offer along the trails. A good portion goes right along the Yampa river & right by the botanical park. Pack your lunch & bring your swimsuit in the summer. Lots of... More

This 7.5 mile paved trail is for all ages and multi use. Walking, running, biking and access to fishing the Yampa River. It follows the river from one end of town to the other. The first day, we drove and exited at 3rd street downhill to the Rodeo Grounds and parked there. Our journey took us to 12th street and... More

We rented nice bikes at Ski Haus and headed out. The trail was pretty, mostly flat and hugged the Yampa River. A lot of it was shaded and the rivers views were great. Tubing on the river looked so inviting...maybe next time! On our way back, we stopped to visit the Yampa River Botanic Park via the gate right on... More

Walked from my motel through the park to downtown across the 5th street bridge. Very cool. Saw fly fishers and people tubing down the river. Plenty of bicyclists and runners and people just taking a stroll. A real asset to town

Excellent, wide paved trail utilized by walkers, bikers, runners, etc. which parallels the scenic Yampa River. The trail crosses the river in numerous places, allowing beautiful views of the river in both directions...also providing good views of the tubers/waders/bathers. One may access this trail in many locations.

Steamboat Springs core trail is the perfect solution for accessing the many activities along the Yampa River and Steamboat's business district. It runs from the south edge of town by the hotels, river access points, botanical gardens, ball fields and the many shops and restaurants downtown. Continue north/west and you can access miles of road bicycling and the businesses on... More

Love this paved trail. I've ridden it as far north and south as possible and it's a nice, easy ride for all ages. Pleasant ride often next to the bubbling Yampa river. Many places to stop and enjoy the scenery. A few eateries in town on the river. We love to stop at Sunpies and eat on the lawn. Just... More
