Hiking was great for very active family like ours. Picking wild strawberries that taste so great was an added bonus!

There are some easy access trails if staying in Snowmass. My favorites are the West Maroon Trail and Rim Trail. Also easy drive to some classics....Maroon Bells - trail to Maroon Pass, Cathedral Lake Trail, American Lake Trail, Ute Trail, Hunters Creek Trail , etc

We went to the Snowmass Maroon Trail this weekend and traveled about 6 miles into Snowmass. The vistas are incredible, the trail is not difficult with many flat portions, and the wildflowers are ablaze with color. You might want to pick up a local's hiking book to make sure you know how to arrive at the trailhead. Be sure to... More

lots of options from super easy to a bit more difficult. Recommend taking the gondola to Elk Camp, and then the chair lift all the way to the top. Amazing views of Maroon Bells from up there. Always a good idea to pack a jacket because it gets much cooler all the way at the top of the mountain. Various... More

We went on the south run trail that starts at the end of parking lot number 7 in the village. It goes up to the top of a mountain. This is an intermediate difficulty hike. For beginners you can park at a parking lot where the trail meets brush creek road. Then walk up a few 100 feet for beautiful... More

Found the information at the Snowmass Ski Ticket and information center. The price was reasonable, with my ski pass from 2 days earlier I received $5 off, so the cost of the snowshoe hike was about $59. The 2 hour hike was beautiful, led by an ACES naturalist, Carey was knowledgeable, easy to talk to and obviously loves the area... More

While the rest of our group downhill skied, we clumped around on the trails. Ditch Trail was decent, a bit wild when crossing the downhill runs, very slick at that point. We tried to walk the road to get down to nearby stream paths. We said hi to the dogsled but never got that far. I imagine this is much... More
