We had a window of time to fill. This was a great place to do it. It's amazing how hot the water is. There are 3 pools of different temperature. Frequent dips in the cold stream are required to cool down. We were there late morning through lunch. Several other families were there enjoying the place as well.

Has good and bad points. Free in river hot spring - not large you have to keep stirring the water around or you will be hot on one side and cold on other side. underwater during spring runoff. Crowd varies- often none, sometimes drunk guys -often hispanic, hippies, who knows. Avoid noisy Fri &Sat nights. There are better ones in... More

This is fun, but you are always either freezing or burning. There are only 2 very small pools in the river and they get crowded very fast.

If you are in the area - make sure you stop by Penny Hotsprings for a quick soak. The place is good for everyone...when we were there, there was a large group of young people drinking but they were not loud or annoying. My two kids thought it was great - hot in spots and cold in others. Make sure... More

I had researched this little spot before our road trip, and kept a look out for it as we drove. There are lots of little turn off/ dirt look out areas along the road, but this one is popular and had a port-a-potty. You can park along the road and climb down a semi-steep set of rocks to the river... More

Our extended family stayed at the KOA campsite nearby (which was awesome), and we went down here for an afternoon because the campsite pool was being repaired. The hot springs is literally just a site on the side of the road (near mile marker 55), and you climb down some steep steps and you are right there. We went on... More

This was very nice we found it and got down to the hot springs and enjoyed our stay, it was way to expensive for us to go to the Glenwood Hot Springs so this was way nice.

This hot spring is right off the highway between Carbondale and Redstone. You can't miss it because there are a bunch of cars parked there. You have to navigate down a steep, rocky cliff to get to the pools in the side of the river. I wouldn't want to do it in the dark. No one manages this space, is... More

My husband and I have gone here twice in the last week. We went during sundown and in the early afternoon. The sun hits right on the three spring pools most of the day. the first major pool is fed by the river's cold water and a stream from the hot spring. Next to this pool are two other pools,... More
