Try the cafe! Excellent meal!

The best meal I had in Colorado was at the Anderson ranch cafe! I love the walk there along the river….just beautiful! And the store has some excellent art supplies and wonderful jewelry, textiles and ceramics. I would def suggest having a meal here while in the area.

Hate to Derail the Happy Train--But

I suppose it would be different if you were attending a formal presentation, open house, or an official show. My husband loves just cruise galleries, but as a drop-in place to visit it just didn't work.

Terrific place to engage in artistic endeavors, meet wonderful people and be involved in a multi-generational community

This was my third visit to the Ranch and I was not disappointed. I took a class that I had no previous experience in and was taught through every step of the way. I never felt on my own or that the teachers and interns were ever unavailable. The meal plan, I thought, was pricey and the food above decent, but selection very limited. The dorm was clean and convenient, but next time I would rent a condo off campus.

Off the beaten path
Mar 2018 • Family
In the winter, lots of people are skiing; in the summer, people may be hiking, biking, or participating in the music festival. Year-round, though, there is art happening at Anderson Ranch. Drop in--it's easy to get to via the Aspen-Snowmass shuttle service, and easy to find by car (right by the fire station on the way up to Snowmass Village Mall). Artists and exhibits change, and classes and demonstrations are worthwhile.

Artist Heaven

I walked around the artist workshops and ended up staying here and joining with this large group to watch the 2017 eclipse. It is fun to peek inside the workshops and see what people are doing. I think they also have a free children's area where you can bring your children and they can try their hand at making art. They also have a lovely gift shop with lots of tempting art works, art supplies and all sorts of books. If I hadn't been restricted by luggage space, I would have had a great time Christmas shopping for friends and family

Visit Anderson Ranch Arts Center, it's a must do!
Aug 2016 • Couples
Attracting internationally renown artists and a wonderful caliber of students, Anderson Ranch is a gem to visit while you're in Snowmass. You can take a self-guided tour of the campus, eat lunch with the artists and students (bring cash, it's about $15 for a bounty of incredible food), soak up such a creative vibe and peek into studios and exhibition spaces dotted throughout the ranch. Wonderful ceramics and limited-edition prints in their ArtWorks Store and your purchases help support the ranch and its programs. Don't be intimidated to visit, this place is great.

Not to be missed when in Snowmass
Feb 2017 • Friends
I have been taking art classes every summer since 2002. They feature classes in digital photography and new media, print making, sculpture, painting and drawing, ceramics, wood working and wood turning. I have taken one or two classes every year including one ceramics class in San Miguel de Allende, MX. They feature other programs and lectures. The kids programs are also excellent. Was just back for a photography lecture a week ago!

We Just Take A Chance

ARAC is part of our Snowmass/Aspen Exprience. We put the events on our calendar and go sometimes not having the faintest idea what we will hear and see, other times fully aware. Sometimes we like the program. Sometimes we shake our head in wonder. But the ideas are always stimulating. The annual picnic at the end of the summer is a highiight on our calendar. We always buy a piece. The best thing to do is to go to their website.

Best Fine Art Workshops Available
Aug 2016 • Family
My wife has attended two week long workshops offered here for years, making it an easy choice for family vacations. Expert, well known, creative and talented staff and instructors. Professional, well maintained facilities. Awesome reputation! Don't hesitate or think twice about the opportunity. Well worth the tuition.

Mining for abstraction
Jul 2015 • Family
I took a one week art workshop, on abstract painting. It was very hands on with great technical instruction. The instructors, assistants and staff were knowledgable, helpful and interesting. This is a working artist retreat and designed for people with a real interest in art. The campus is very conducive to artistic discovery. The cafe provides three meals with varying purchase plans, and the food was local and good. There is also a small gallery and art supply store.
