Good place to rest and enjoy a few holes of disc golf
Aug 2021
There's a disc golf course here starting from the parking area at the base of the ski area! We parked and enjoyed walking around, a nice break from driving the Million Dollar Highway. I was the only one who plays disc golf, but I thoroughly enjoyed playing a few holes before continuing our drive. By the way, Silverton is an excellent place to stop for coffee, and a very friendly and beautiful town.

ATV ride
Sep 2019
There were some views that made the rough ride well worth it. What a beautiful area! You can also get a nice view and shot of Silverton early on the trail. It was dusty dusty.

Scenic hike and a great way to get a 360 view of the area. The route was well-marked and we met many friendly people on the trail

Jeep to the top!
Sep 2018 • Friends
OMG! I don’t know where the others drive to, but getting to the top was super scary! Very slim roads on the ridge. I loved it at the top and when we got down safe.

Great view of Silverton
Jul 2018 • Friends
This is an easy off road trail to drive. You will meet a lot of hikers and runners along the way as it is a popular trail. There is a great view of Silverton surrounded by the mountains that is worthy of capturing with your camera. There are a few old mines that are closed off but worth exploring and seeing to allow your imagination to see how it was in the days past. Sheep graze there and we had them crossing the road in front of us at one point.. very cool. Although this trail had nice views.. it is not much of a challenge for off road driving.

Great view

You need a "jeep-like" vehicle to drive up Kendall Mountain but the view from the top is spectacular.

Hooray for small, local ski areas!
Jan 2016 • Solo
In this era of the mega-corporate ski Industry, it's such a pleasure to see small, local ski areas still in existence. If you are a REAL skier, you owe it to yourself to spend some time on the easy slopes of places like this. It's history! Roots! Authentic! We should patronize all the small ski areas, to keep them in business. And Kendall Mountain is extra cool because of where it is.

I went to Silverton for the big mountain. After my day, at the hotel I happen to look outside my hotel room window and I saw a small hill. I jumped in my truck and drove. There was standing a small ski station with a log chalet and a big ice rink. Little munchkins going down the hill, parents assisting. You know... the cute stuff. I said cool...let do this...it should be cheap. Put my skis on and get to the ticket booth which is the lift house and BAM...27$ for half a day. Well, I said why not I'll probably wont be back here for awhile. I ended up being able to find some mid-thigh powder...out of bounds (AHAHA... what a rebel!!). I would say it has about 240' of vertical.

What great fun, kick sled races, fireworks, horse shoes, fat tire bike race, talent show, chili cook off... And more in one weekend in Silverton, co. Like stepping back in time when you drive down the mountain. Friendly and welcoming town everyone knows everyone.
