My son was infatuated with all of the abandoned mines we saw while off-roading through Ouray, Silverton, Telluride and surrounding areas. However, because of the danger we didn't let him explore any of the sites we came to but instead we took a detour and visited Old Hundred

Our entire family enjoyed this old mine tour. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about this mine and mining history in general. We went in the afternoon and loved the break from the heat. Take a jacket! It can get pretty chilly down there. Panning for silver

We have 2 young kids (9&6) and they enjoyed going “into the earth.” Tour Guide was very informative and made my son his partner and he was so excited about that. Yes it’s cold, loud at certain times (he warns the kids when to plug their ears), and claustrophobic but it’s a mine.
