Gore Range made this a wonderful experience for us. They were highly professional, prompt and went out of their way to adjust our ride time - before inclement weather moved in to the area. Glen, Kira and Holly were amazing. If you visit the Silverthorne, Dillion, Frisco area don’t miss riding with this team. Thank you again!!!

This was one of the nicest horseback riding experiences I have ever had. Late in the season as colors were beginning to change. The staff was fantastic and made sure everyone was informed, "Safety First!" and then fitted each individual to a specific horse. This was a perfect excursion for the beginner to intermediate rider and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking! A most enjoyable ride that everyone enjoyed! The price was worth every penny and most appropriate for this beautiful ride.
The horses were well cared for, very cooperative and provided a real nice ride for everyone. A 1 hour ride was perfectly long enough for the novice rider like me, but those with buns of steel or the advanced riders can go out for a longer ride in one that is personalized to what you want and your riding ability. Something for everybody in the family here and this was the best adventure in our summer family vacation. Thank you Gore Range Outfitters for a wonderful experience and great memories.

When traveling as a family, we always look for a place to ride horses. Riding in the mountains with great views is a plus.
We booked a private 1/2 day and had a great time. Nice horses which obey when they need to start, turn, stop, or speed up. As it is a rugged and rocky trail, we were asked not to trot the horses - which was understandable.
Glen met us and drove us to the ranch and told us a little about the operation. The horses were saddled and ready. Jenny and Holly were great guides, friendly and fun to spend some time with. Ride is on the ranch and then in the White River National Forest. Saw a couple of bedded mule deer on the ride as well. Lunch was a cabin on the ranch and some great sandwiches.
Gore Range outfitters also offer a hunting guide service and I may consider using them in the future.

My teenaged daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our one-hour ride! We were picked up promptly at the meeting place and driven to the stables where our group was given a talk about general safety and riding skills. The ride took us through the ranch’s beautiful meadows and hayfields and into the Arapaho forest. We saw wildflowers, Aspen tree groves, pine, and had breath-taking views of the Gore range. Our guides, Jenny and Tyler, were professional and friendly. I wish I would’ve booked a longer ride! I highly recommend Gore Range Outfitters!

It was fantastic to watch my family figure out how to navigate riding a horse. This adventure has now encouraged my son to ride as well. I felt very safe and comfortable on our adventure and our family would definitely do this experience again. Plus the picture at the to was priceless!

Our family really enjoyed our horseback riding experience! Our guides, Holly and Jenny were fun and so nice. They made our kids feel comfortable and safe. We could tell the horses were loved and well taken care of which was very important to us. Wish we had booked a longer ride!

Holly and the guides were wonderful. We booked a 1.5 hour ride but wished we had done a lot longer because it was soooo great!
Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We went in June when there were wildflowers all over the hills. It was really peaceful and enjoyable to ride with all that beauty around us.
We had several kids with us who were beginner riders, the guides were patient and very attentive and supportive of them. They were all talking about the ride for the days after this and trying to see how we could go back again.
Highly recommend!

Our family of 5 loved our Gore Range horseback riding experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. The horses were beautiful and so well-trained. The ride offered gorgeous views of the mountains. Love that they keep groups small too. Would highly recommend! Thanks Holly and crew!

I don't typically write reviews but I am an educated individual and experienced hunter and will attempt with my best attempt to provide you with an objective review. We contracted with this outfitter for three days of guided day hunts. My friends and I went with Gore Range Outfitters based on the owners selling of a great hunting experience and his estimation of our success filling our Elk tags. This was a complete exaggeration of the reality of hunting Elk with Gore Range Outfitters.
I informed him that I was bringing my 14 year daughter with me. I also told him that she has disabilities from birth that affected her eyesight but that had absolutely nothing to do with any form of strenuous hiking. Glenn stated that he had no issues with this. A note to the reader here, My daughter has climbed Masada in Israel (this is an incredibly strenuous hike) she's hiked paths at the 10,000 foot level on Germany's tallest mountain the Zutgspitze, as well as hiking several other strenuous hikes in Zion, and Grand Canyon national parks). I saw this trip as a special daddy-daughter bonding time and the opportunity to give her a once lifetime experience.
I also informed Glenn that my style of hunting is stalking not sitting for 12 to 14 hours waiting for game to appear - Glenn stated that he understood and would try to accommodate - another bait-and-switch tactic used by Glenn to get us to agree.
Day 1 - Glenn opts to guide for my daughter and I - we meet Glenn at the appointed time still roughly 45 minutes before sunset, we travel 5 minutes behind Ruby ranch where we begin a hike in absolute darkness to a spot where he thinks we'll have success - no issues hiking to and from any of the sites Glenn picked for the day. I did take issue over the fact Glenn dropped us off at spots some of which I questioned as you couldn't walk a straight line with running into several trees - there was no way I'd be able to identify a legal bull Elk let alone take an accurate shot - over the day Glenn took us to 5 spots where we hiked small distances and sat quietly. My daughter handled the hiking well but though we sat for over eleven hours that day we saw absolutely no game at all. Frankly it wasn't a great day at all but I'm a patient hunter - Glenn over several conversations that day made attempts to tell me that success wasn't going to be good, he even pointed out the overall Elk tag success was at about 20% - first, he stated in our initial conversations that his guiding led to an minimal 70% success rate now he was making statements trying to set a lower expectation. Okay, still had two more days of hunting so I wasn't too concerned. At the end of the day Glenn takes us back to meet the rest of our team. Here's where this completely fell apart.
In the car Glenn realizes that we have no transportation because his other guide took my friends to a more distant location - we have no idea, he's the guide and planned the hunt so we have no means of transportation home because of his planning - he literally got angry with me and my daughter over this and at one point suggesting that he'd drop us off at a restaurant where my friends could pick us up when they returned (I have a rifle and a handgun - where's the common sense here) then when he suggests that he's going to take us back to the same spot to sit and wait again for an 11-plus hours with no game sighting I disagree - he literally blows his top and starts yelling at me in front of my daughter stating he's not a "Babysitter" and casting statements about my daughter in front of her in his truck that were extremely hurtful and false. Honestly and sincerely, my daughter was a real trooper, didn't let out a single complaint and had no issues with the hike.
Then rather than approaching me he tells my friends via a text that he has no guide for my daughter and I and that we are a waste of his time - I'm quoting his text here. He was totally unprofessional, his hunting skills I question when he questioned himself regarding Elk migratory patterns and his customer services skill are appalling.
Some background on my daughter - first, because of his lunatic rants in the truck she was in tears and refused to go another day. My daughter had 15 different surgeries from birth where we were told at one point she might not ever walk - as a parent who loves their children, this is a gut wrenching experience - we have over the years managed to overcome all but one challenge for her, her eyesight is locked and because of that it throws off her depth perception - hiking isn't a challenge but she most likely will not be driving a car.
To have to listen to the rants of Glenn who was a) clearly upset out having to drive an extra 10 minutes out of his way to drop us off, and b) visibly angered over my disagreement over the next day's hunt plan was unbelievable and the fact that tried to use my daughter as an excuse is inexcusable.
I'm a 20 Navy Flight Officer veteran, who was has been in several conflicts including Desert Storm. It angers me to no end when consider the fact that I spent 20 years of my life laying it all out on the line to try to preserve the rights of people such as Glenn and Gore Range Outfitters.
I have made my best attempt here not to slander or exaggerate the events that occurred - if after reading this you choose to contract with GRO then at a minimum, you've been educated as the treatment by the owner you can expect.

John and his other 2 hunters were signed up with us for a 3 day hunt, he sprung the fact that his daughter wanted to join us the day before the hunt began. I usually charge extra for observers but this one I let slide. I think it was a savvy way for him to save some $$, springing it on me the day before, that she wanted to join as an observer.
This was not part of the original deal. I offered to take her with him out of the kindness of my heart. Hiking was not the issue, the girl could hike. The problem was that her glasses were about an inch thick and she had trouble seeing in the mornings and evenings getting in and out of the hunting spots, which made it very difficult for her to navigate the off trail terrain. She fell several times tripping over logs, rocks, etc. She told me she was scared of bears etc.and to be in the woods at dark. I watched her struggle for a day or so before I decided I did not want any part of taking her in the woods anymore.
John also fell once dropping his gun in the water and mud, he barely cleaned his gun after that, and said it would be OK, But again I was nervous that if he went to shoot that gun we may all die from a misfire. The gun was full of mud and debris and he wanted to bring it back the next day. All of this made me nervous and I am very safety conscious and didn't want to risk any of this, so I said I did not want to take them hunting anymore. I did not think a Navy pilot would hunt with a compromised gun. I just didn't feel right about this hunt. I lived, and so did they, and nobody got hurt, was all I cared about at the time. Thanks for reading.

My family (2 teenagers, 2 adults) booked a half-day horseback ride with Gore Range Outfitters for my birthday and it was incredible! We went through meadows of wildflowers, groves of aspen trees, sagebrush-covered hillsides with panoramic views, and creeks surrounded by lush ferns, all in one ride. The guides were top-notch and the horses were gentle and well-trained. This is a private ranch, so you are out there with nature, not with some ski lift over your head while the horses are nose to tail. Definitely put this on your bucket list!

We are a family of 5
One of our kids is 6 , He be riding on the same horse as one of the parents?
He would have to ride his own horse, as we, and most companies do not allow double riding, he would be ponied by a guide. We run beginner trips daily at 3pm, please call to reserve. Thank you. Glenn
