I have had a great experience every time I've visited, which is no less than 20 times. Great service and advice. Friendly staff who are interested in making sure their customers have a great day fishing. I've been in many shops across Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. This shop is among the best. Thanks!

I have been fly fishing the world over. I live in Colorado and spend most of my time in Montana and Wyoming as the waters around Colorado get a lot of pressure. A patient of mine suggested that I fish the Blue river below lake Dillon using a guide from Colorado Anglers in Silver Thorn.
I had fished at least 10 miles of this river for years with limited success and although just being out on the river relishing nature is gratifying, catching fish makes it even more enjoyable.
Due to my past dissatisfaction with the yield on the Blue I initially disregarded his suggestion until a few weeks ago, when I found myself in Breckenridge with little or nothing to do one day. My wife had plans with her girlfriends and I didn't want to waste my time wondering around town. Luckily. I had brought along my gear (just in case) and contacted The Colorado Angler shop in Silverthorne and set up a half day with one of their guides. He knew exactly what they were hitting on and exactly where and how to present the lure. I had a great day of fishing on a river that I've basically just tolerated for years and now have the knowledge to fish it smarter and more efficiently thanks to the expertise of the staff at The Colorado Angler.

Everything was perfect except that I did not catch any fish. The guide was helpful and kind. The weather was beautiful. The equipment was top notch. The guide took me to a public portion of the Colorado River, and the area was teaming with campers, boaters, rafters, and other fisherman. I bet a 100 boats and rafts passed us. The area was simply over fished. The trip was educational, and I'm glad that I was able to go, but if you book with Colorado Angler, just be sure that you request to go to a place where you are likely to catch fish (at least one).

I booked a half day wade trip for my 16 year old son. My husband couldn’t fish due to an injury but they let him tag along and be part of the experience. The guide - Mike - took them to a great area where he patiently worked with my son to make his first fly fishing experience exceptional. He caught several fish and said he “learned a ton!” My husband was truly impressed with every part of the experience and my son plans to make his next fishing purchase a fly rod.

Andrew has a staff that is willing to help a girl with some new gear. I've been flyfishing for over 25 years & my experiences with a lot of men would fill a comic book! The shop has a lot of great gear & good pricing. So, now I'm the happy owner of Women's Redington Willow River Waders & Boots.

This was our first time fly fishing and our guide Hagen was extremely informative and also very patient. We learned the basics of casting before we got in the boat. Once we were on our way Hagen was able to teach us where the fish were. He was also very patient in dealing with an endless amount of tangles. If you're looking for a fun, and absolutely worry free fishing trip Colorado Anglers is the best!

After visiting the shop of The Colorado Angler, we decided to book a full day float trip. The staff was very welcoming and put us at ease immediately. We arrived at the shop and began a wonderful day of fishing. Our guide, Hagen Lyle, proved to be a very competent and knowledgeable fishing guide and drift boat operator. He put us on fish ALL DAY LONG, and I am talking about slabs. His ability to operate his boat was instrumental to our fishing success. He passed along a vast amount of knowledge of the area and it was obvious that he loves what he does.

I would recommend The Colorado Angler to anyone who would ask.

Newbie Fly Gal who was in search for a guide who could work to improve my skills and help me hook some fish.

I had called around to several guide services in the area and Colorado Angler stood out. They were friendly on the phone and understood my skill level and concerns about my first guide trip, first time in waders & boots as well as traveling from out of state to do this.

When I checked in to the shop they couldn't have been friendlier - all CoVid compliant they made sure I felt welcomed and I saw their customer service with others - it was EXCELLENT!

They matched me with Michael Baxter. He was patient, a skilled instructor and not only did he help me significantly improve my casting, he also taught me some new casts. Additionally, he helped me to "read the water" and explained the entomology of what the fish were feeding.

He was just AMAZING and I booked a second day with him and fished even more waters. Did I catch fish? YES, that was the bonus. However as anyone who has fished knows, that's not always going to happen when you fish (no matter how much you pay to fish) so one day there were takes but no lands - not through ANY fault of the guide, that's just fishing....

So when I read the reviews about people complaining about not catching fish or the weather being bad... that is in no way the fault of Colorado Angler. I HIGHLY recommend their services (ESPECIALLY Michael).

My son in law and i went on a fly fishing float trip with The Colorado Angler. I would recommend them to anyone interested in fly fishing. The shop was very accommodating in finding the best day to fish. Their gear is very good. Colin our guide was exceptional. I am an experienced fly fisherman but my son in law had only been fly fishing once before. Colin was terrific at giving instruction as well as putting us lots of fish. No doubt whenever I am in Summit County and go fly fishing I will call The Colorado Angler and request Colin to be my guide.
