Roosevelt National Park offers many and varied opportunities for recreation. You can do most anything, from hunting to nordic skiing. For winter activities, a choice location is, despite its unpropitious name, Deadman Road near Redfeather Lakes.

Pleasant and expansive national forest with scenic views of the Continental Divide. Great way to spend the day. Lots of hiking trails, picnic areas, campgrounds, and other facilities, though these may get crowded by late morning, especially in the Brainard Lake area along the Indian Peaks. Definitely reserve campsites, they fill up quickly. Plenty of wildlife to see too, along... More

Followed a hand drawn map , so got a bit confused some times but apart from the dirt sections, ice & snow packed areas , had a pleasant drive in the forest !! Thank god it was a Jeep that worked ! The highlight for me was coming across the two Moose feeding at Dusk ! Pity my camera isn't... More

A great day trip, driving Thur the National Forest, looking at all of the beautiful landscapes, a lots of great photos opportunity. Hoping to see some wildlife but was driving Thur during the mid-day hours, the best time for wildlife is early morning or late afternoon hours . A great drive with places to stop and take in the scenery.

My husband and I were driving through the forest to and from Estes park. It was a very pleasant drive to get to Estes, and we decided to take our time driving through on our way back home. There are a couple of areas, where you can pull off the side of the road and check out Big Thompson river.... More

We hiked the Isabella Lake Trail in the Indian Wilderness Area of RNF after 3 days in the RMNP and a very exausting summit the day before. This might have been the prettiest walk we took on our hike vacation so far. This trail is 4 miles out and back with only a moderate uphill area, with gorgeous lake, meadow... More

The Roosevelt National Forest features stunning views along mostly dirt roads that can be quite bumpy and narrow, with numerous switchbacks. There are several pull out areas along the way, however, and some picnic and camping areas throughout the park. Day passes and camping fees for overnight can be required depending on the location. The Poudre River runs along much... More

We have meandered our way through the Roosevelt National forest a couple times now: Once we had to turn back due to snow, the next time was clear right up to Estes Park. We started going out of Boulder on Rt 199, and connected with Rt 72 heading to Estes Park. There was no clear "entry and exit" -- just... More

Highly recommend a day in the Brainard Lake Recreation area which is inside the Roosevelt National Forest. We got there before 7am hoping to get early Moose by the lake. We were not disappointed. This is 35 miles from RMNP so it's a very easy day trip.

Went there in march, and it was absolutely great! Love the hiking routes and you can go a lot of places by car, and then head on into the routes. Beautiful nature, great mountains!
