Beautiful park

Beautiful park. Peaceful. Water crisp and clean. Little waterfalls across the lake at an inlet. Great place to bring a kayak.

An UNEXPECTED hidden gem
Jul 2019 • Family
July 2019: We were referred to this park by the manager at our motel (Western Star Inn) in rifle. My family (myself, wife, 2 year old son, granny and teenage brother) were looking for a fun, water activity to spend our final day in the Aspen/Rifle area and were told we HAD to visit Harvey Gap. We’re so glad we did, it was wonderful. The lake had beautiful blueish green water, not nasty at all, was very cool in the hot summer heat, and the kayaking was a blast! Hours of fun were had that day. If we ever return to rifle, we will return to Harvey Gap.

What a difference a dought makes
Oct 2018 • Couples
Nice scenery and there are several other state parks in the area. We did have our boats, but the reservoir was the size of a small pond and there were several extensions to the boat ramp just to get to the water. See the difference in the picture.

Don't waste your time!!!
Jul 2018
If you are wanting to go fishing here like we used to, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
the only thing allowed on the the lake are paddle boards, sailboards and kayaks. The parks service says they dont have the staffing for the boat ramp but can have 4-5 people standing around Rifle Gaps boat ramp just a few miles down the road. Not worth the price of a pass.

Good for a short visit.
Jul 2018 • Couples
We stopped here overnight when passing through. It is just O.K. We had a great spot overlooking the resiviour, tried a little fishing with no luck. The plus side it is a nice quiet campground, very clean, with nice bathrooms with showers. The down side, there are no trees and the ground is covered with biting ants. Not much to do unless you bring a boat.

Great for kids
Jul 2017 • Family
Love this lake. We take the kids up there for day trips (there is no camping or motorized boats) and we love just hanging at the beach and paddle boarding/exploring.

Scenic, but ...
Jul 2017 • Family
This is a very beautiful spot and a nice way to cool off on a hot afternoon, BUT they should post a sign when they divert half the water to rifle Gap before you pay expecting to go swimming. Very disappointing.

Beautiful Country
Jul 2017 • Business
It is just a short drive to this state park from Rifle. Driving through the Gap is quite impressive, interesting rock slides and chutes. The lake level is a bit low, but there were many people out enjoying the water. Nice semi-secluded spot to visit.

Heaven on Earth
Jul 2017
It's nothing pompous, but this is my all time favorite place to spend a sunny day on my paddleboard. It's a no-wake lake, which makes it perfect for kayakers and paddlers. The water is beautiful and clear. The swimming area is quite muddied because of so many people stirring up the bottom, but out in the middle it is pristine. A beautiful, quiet place to hang out with friends. The shore line has some trees, but no sand. Wear water shoes and be prepared for a wind storm around 2:00 or 3:00 pm.
