This is a great local zoo, very park like. It’s an older zoo so some of the enclosures are dated but the animals are well cared for. They also have a petting zoo where you can feed the goats. It is currently not open due to COVID restrictions but hopefully it will be back again soon.

The zoo has free parking. It is an AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) member which means that, if you are a member in another AZA organization, your admission fee is half price. The zoo has good pathways and signage. It is also relatively flat and well shaded. Among the residents that is saw were lions, zebras, a Canadian lynx, swift foxes, gibbons, both types of camels, and red pandas. There is also a "frontier ranch" with several types of farm animals. There is a small gift shop.

I went as a chaperone with a large school group. The zoo is on the smaller side, so not a ton of animals or exhibits compared to other Colorado zoos. On the day we went, a lot of exhibits were either under construction or being cleaned, so I would say we only saw 50-60% of the animals. It might just have been bad luck.

My daughter and I have enjoyed this zoo every March when we come to Pueblo for an unrelated event. It is very nice for the price and is part of the AZA, so it is half off with another zoo membership. The animals are displayed well with good explanations. It is relatively small compared to other major zoos and has room for expansion, but it still has many animals that are displayed nicely often close up. Very enjoyable - worth a visit!

Winter zoo visits are always a bit hit and miss. The Pueblo Zoo has nice staff. The birds and monkeys were fun. There are several older exhibits without animals and the whole place needs an infusion of money and repairs, but overall it makes for a nice day out. It is easy to get to and is surrounded by the disc golf course and playgrounds and tennis courts and the pool.

I was a little underwhelmed with the zoo. It needs some attention. For the entry fee I would expect a little more than a 1990s zoo experience. I think there is a lot of potential, but it needs investment. We visited with kids age 14, 12 and 10. They seemed to enjoy looking at the animals, and we caught the penguin feeding. It took about two hours for us to see it all. If you had smaller children it would take longer and there is play equipment and space for the littles to run around.

We were really disappointed with the Pueblo zoo. There were more empty enclosures and cages than there were enhabited enclosures. Most of the enclosures were left empty and had 3 foot tall weeds growing in the unoccupied areas. Really disappointing.

Great zoo if you are going with small children. Wasn't very busy lots of room to run around not so big they can't get all the way around by themselves. Older zoo so the e ibits do need some TLC.

I thought this was a pleasant zoo to visit. Not sure what the other review expected but I, for one, have never heard it advertised as "THE WORLD FAMOUS PUEBLO ZOO." This is not San Diego we are dealing with here... Overall it thought it was a nice little zoo. Admission is a measly six bucks and it was clean, well cared for and the staff was very knowledgable. If for any reason you ever find yourself in Pueblo, the zoo is a nice attraction (perhaps the ONLY attraction).

I liked the lay out of this zoo. It was very relaxing and pleasant - not overrun with tourists. There could have been a few more animals. It was pretty disappointing not to see a lot of the African animals. But we had a very nice time, and it didn't take us a whole day to go through it.
