About
Owner Marko Ćopić originates from Jastrebarsko, Croatia and brings 20 years of "Old World" and Mediterranean style wine making experience to Colorado, combining them with his modern wine making techniques to offer a vastly different wine tasting experience to the Colorado viticultural scene. Established in 2013. Owner Marko Copic handmade all of the furniture for the Purgatory Cellars Winery Tasting Room while living in Croatia and imported all of the furniture and all of his wine making equipment to Parker, CO. All of the construction in the Winery was also done by Marko with the basic concept being an "Old World" European feel combined with a high tech industrial manufacturing facility producing world class wines where you can see the wine making happening right before your very eyes. Purgatory Cellars Winery maintains a comfortable atmosphere for enjoying either an exquisite tasting, or just enjoying a glass of wine. Specialties Purgatory Cellars works hard to source most of our grapes from Colorado and to exploit the qualities of Colorado's unique climate and significant elevation features. Purgatory Cellars is working to bring specific qualities of grapes from the Western Slopes and Four Corners regions of Colorado to the Front Range. We are making and aging wine in Amphora containers with their origin going back about 5,000 years in ancient Greek and Roman history when Amphorae were used in the preservation and transportation of various products both liquid and dry, but mainly for wine making. The Amphorae are made from special clay in the country of Georgia and infused with bees wax and then baked in a wood fired kiln until the bees wax is completely infused in the pot. This wine making technique provides flavors and characteristics different from other aging methods. Drop in to see these beautiful containers that just arrived from overseas (Georgia). They are truly one of a kind for wine making with only a select few found in the entire United States.

This is one of my favorite hangouts in Parker. I was very surprised when they first opened a couple years ago to find they make all their own wines in house. I make a little of my own wine from kits and love the smell of fermenting wine. So when I enter their location in Parker I'm transported to my happy place. And Marko and Ivanka (the owners) are gracious and happy to talk about their wines and guide you on your wine journey. They also serve some light bites, a charcuterie plate, if you come in hungry.

Great wine and even better company. The couple that own the winery are kind and knowledgeable and so fun to talk to. Beautiful atmosphere with the wine barrels, brick and fire place. Always have a great time here. My husband & I usually date night at least once or twice a month starting our happy hour Purgatory winery. Highly recommend.

The atmosphere is great; it feels homey and comfortable. First of all, if you're looking for a big space and lots of room to spread out, this isn't the place for you. Although it is compact, they have utilized the space well adding couches, a fireplace and a wine cabinet. I love seeing the wine equipment and the wine barrels, it adds great character. The staff is always so friendly whether you are stopping by to pick up a bottle or hanging out for a bit, they never disappoint. I was happy to find a wine bar in Parker because I live here and sometimes don't want to drive 20-30 min to one. The wine choices are constantly changing and the staff lets you try before you buy a whole glass. Great place to hangout! Thank you!

Had been here before and enjoyed it very much, so we were disappointed yesterday with the new policy. Once we sat down and had a chance to review the menu, we were informed that they no longer offer flights for wine tasting after 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The explanation given was that they were so busy that they don't have time to explain enough about the wines, and also that they were running out of wine! Had there been any sign or even note on the menu (which still indicated that flights were available), we probably would have left right away since "tasting" is what we wanted to do! Also, there were very few people in there at this time (about 6 p.m.). Granted, they were still willing to offer 2 tastes. We don't need a full explanation and description of each wine, especially since there are tasting notes available at each table.

Came in on a rainy Friday night and enjoyed some really good wine. Both the reds and whites were good and the atmosphere at this winery is perfect. The staff that is working here is more than knowledgable about their wines and wine in general. Very pleasant experience and would highly recommend to friends to visit. Also.....You can bring your own apps/cheese/crackers/etc. to eat while sipping on their wine.

We just visited Purgatory Cellars Winery for the first time. I wish we had know about this place before! We saw it when we dropped our dogs off at daycare nearby. It's a bit hidden, and that's a shame. This place and the wine is amazing! We have tried local and small winery wines many places, but NO ONE does it better or even comparable to this place. We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the wine as well as the atmosphere and service. We started with a wine flight of 5 red wines for only $7, and added on another wine for just $1. With each pour, our server explained the wine notes as well as the production process. One of the owners brought us a glass of chardonnay to try that was unbelievable. Yum! Most of the times when we have tried a small winery, the wines are too sweet, but these wines were all on the dry side and very complex and interesting. We will be back many times! The atmosphere is rustic and cozy, the wine is fantastic, and the service spectacular.

I stopped in at the Purgatory Cellars in Parker with a friend. We brought sandwiches and have a couple of glasses of wine. Gary was an excellent cellar master and I learned about the wines they make and sell. Excellent wines and atmosphere to relax with friends. Lots of wood, and large wine barrels. They make their wines right there. I will be going back.

This is far more than a wine bar or tasting room at a local winery. This is simply like having a wine master come and tell you everything you want to know about wine, serve you wine ... while you basque in the rustic comfort of your own old world living room.

The owners are your servants and the wines are very nice. You'll easily find something you can enjoy. Stop in and chat with them, if only to see wine making artifacts and methods you cannot otherwise see in the US. Even if just for a soda, or water you should stop in and see the Devore and all the custom woodwork and furniture crafted by the owners themselves.

I cannot think of many places where the proprietors love of the craft, the business and the customer is so evident. This is truly an example of a passion and a hobby turned into a business so it can be shared with more people. This is the best of the best of non-pretentious, relaxing, quality places.

A gem.

During my visit from Wisconsin, my sister and I stopped at Purgatory Winery. My sister lives in Parker but never stopped here because of a bad experience with Colorado wines in the past. We talked at length with Marko, the owner, who emigrated from Zagreb, Croatia. We sampled about 12 different wines made on site. Wow! Marko knows his wines and all were very good. We purchased several bottles to enjoy with Thanksgiving dinner. My sister said she will definitely return. This is a neat place, operated by wonderful people, in a very clean rustic environment.
