While we take the art of winemaking seriously, we like to have fun too. A favorite since 1988, we're known for pioneering Colorado wines made from local grapes and fruit, with names like Laughing Cat, Cougar Run, and a Dinosaur series. Carlson Vineyards, a small farm winery, produces premium wines in the heart of Colorado wine country above the town of Palisade, at an altitude of 4700 ft. Grape wines: Riesling, T-Red (Lemberger), Sweet Baby Red, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Fruit wines: Cherry, Plum, Peach and Pearadactyl (Pear-Apple). Relax and savor the scenic vistas of the Grand Valley and Colorado River too. Located on Palisade's Fruit & Wine Scenic Byway around mile marker 6 on East Orchard Mesa.

It's never happened that I enjoyed all of the wines I sampled. But Carlson is just that good! I'm partial to the sweeter wines.. and love their "off grape" varieties. Definitely try the cherry wine with the Enstroms chocolate! Amazing!

We went out for their holiday open house. We've been there several times. This is not a snotty, esoteric, "hoity-toity" winery. It's got very good wine with nice people to help you. Now if you love amazing peach, pear, plum and cherry wines made from all fruit- it's a dream come true. They also seem to be improving and experimenting... More

One of the longest wineries in business here, the owners are very nice and run a great winery. There are lots of wonderful wines to try and lots of lovely gifts and tasty delights for sale. Easy to reach, on the main road traveling through East Orchard Mesa in Palisade.

Came to Palisade on a grils' wine tasting weekend and Carlson didn't disappoint. We got to do a wine tasting in the backyard, which was just gorgeous. All of the staff were incredibly friendly. Definitely a good stop if you like fruit wines!

Recommend this place for their 100% fruit wines. We stopped by at 10 am when they opened and they were happy to let us try as much as we'd like. Served in glasses (not plastic as a previous reviewer wrote). The tasting room is small and I can see how if crowded it may not been as pleasurable for us.... More

With so many superlatives what more can be said? We enjoyed our visit to Carlson. The “hosts” were personable and had a lot of humor. I love the fact that you can start at the top of their wine list and just work your way down. We bought several bottles to take back home and enjoy later. One of the... More

Loved their "try everything" attitude. And so we did and loved enough to split a case. I loved Laughing Cat Riesling and Sweet Baby Red. Also loved the Peach wine. I would go back again!

This was our first stop on a wine tour of the area and was a great choice. The staff are very knowledgeable and they had a wide selection to try. Some of the wines were too sweet for me but they some delicious choices including a cherry wine that goes great with melted chocolate. The Pearadactyl was one of the... More

Met new owner. We've been coming here at least every other year for last decade. This winery on so many levels is a gem. The new owners are younger and made clear that which the winery is know for will continue. We tried a dry Rose and only wished I had bought more. Not yet available outside winery. I look... More

During our stop at Talbott's Mountain Gold, it was recommended to use to stop here for Peach wine because they use Talbott's peaches. We arrived on Thursday around 3:00 p.m. and no one was there which was perfect for us. We received specialized attention tasting several wines before making a purchase selection. The staff was friendly, helpful and hilarious (except... More
