The perimeter trail lets u see Ouray from the upper elevations...I did it in 4 stages to keep it from wearing me out haha! Felt very safe and took many pics. Even had cell service most of the way. Start at visitor center and get a map. Going clockwise allows u to safely climb up and avoid a lot of... More

Don't miss out. We took numerous children, and they all loved it! Water and gorgeous views can't be beat.

With a foot injury I would have liked to do the entire trail but was limited to the section starting at the Visitor Center and ending at the waterfalls. Even this was quite a workout with lots of ups and downs and stairs to climb. Would do this again and hopefully the entire Perimeter Trail the next time

We started at the park walking west to the ice park and down into Ouray. The views were marvelous. Incouldnhave hiked the rest of the trail but it is too exposed near the waterfall.

I had low expectations. A hike around the city seemed well, too close to the city! I wanted a mountain experience in this delivered! The perimeter trail hike was about 6 miles in total. There are several places where you can jump on or off the trail if you need a break. We actually did this in two days because... More

Handy to pick up at various points. Grade often steep. Cool stretches on rock ledges. We did roughly half of Perimeter Trail and then friends returned us to our vehicle and we hiked at Box Canyon Park. The two outings combined for about 3 hours. We really enjoyed learning about geology, wildlife and the history of Box Canyon Park. Didn't... More

Very accessible to town by foot. Steep, rocky trail but once you get up there you truly appreciate both nature and the town below. Loved such a quick hike close in. Met up with an older gent on the trail who had made the entire 7 mi loop in 2.5 hrs. I do recommend walking sticks, which we didn't have.... More

We fully enjoyed our hike but somehow lost the trail. Not a problem as the beautiful town is easy to see so we just headed that direction. My 15 yr old son had a great time with his mom - we spent over two hours chatting, taking pictures and talking...

It took us 3 & 1/2 hours. We parked across the street from the visitor center and it was avery scenic and rewarding hike. You pass Cascade Falls, then hike through the Ice Park, and even pass above the Box Canyon Falls viewing platform. Then you hike through the tunnel and cross Oak Creek and finish back in town. I...
