Nice trail that surrounds the town. Hike all or parts of trail depending on how much time you have. Several parking areas near different parts of trail like the baby bathtubs, cascade waterfall, gorge, etc. making it easy to just pick and choose which sites to hike to if you don't have time to do them all. Some areas are... More

I just wanted to write this review to let others know, this trail was pretty intense, long and areas of elevation change. Due to the direction we chose, we hit Cascade Falls around 1pm and by that time the sun was intense. Be sure to take lots of water and plan accordingly because this trail, If done in its entirety... Awesome views! Very serene. My husband and I were not able to hike the entire trail (not for beginners), but we certainly enjoyed as much as we could hike. BTW, caution if you are afraid of heights. There are some really steep spots where it feels you are hiking along a narrow ledge (because you are!).

We started at the Visitors Center and went to the Cascade Falls. The trail started steep and just kept going up. Then it became a narrow trail cut into the cliff, not for those afraid of heights. Outstanding views of the city of Ouray, bring your camera.. We stopped at the falls but you can continue around the city. Tough... More

We started at visitors center and hiked the entire trail in about 4 hours. Stopped at many different spots and took pictures, or just enjoyed the awesome views. Trail really does go around the town. We had a map with us, but trail was marked well. There are directions on the back of the map if you are not sure... More

It isn't easy, due to steepness and the altitude, but once you get up off of the valley floor, the views are marvelous: huge cliffs, roaring waterfalls, oak and spruce forests, wildflowers, old mining trails, and a unique vantage to see Ouray from. Plan to spend about 3 hours doing the entire trail. You'll get a great work out and... More

I had limited time, but wanted to see as much as I could, so walked up to Cascade Falls and then on a bit further on the trail. There is a cut-through where you can come back down. I wish I had had more time to take the whole trail. Folks were very helpful along the way, giving directions and... More

Parked by Cascade Falls, walked up the trail and needed to stretch my legs a bit more. Headed North on the trail for a super view of Ouray.

This is an amazing trail that's gets you high above Ouray and actually goes about 3/4 of the way around Ouray. (1/4 is just road through town). Its billed as 'easy', but actually there are a lot of steep parts that I found slightly strenous. I did the whole thing in 2.5 hours and I was really exhausted by the... More

Being fit is helpful... took us 4 hours with a shortcut. Beautiful scenery - don't miss the short hike up under the waterfall!
